zx 12 slip on muffler.

Post by zx12russ »

Hi fellow riders, I ride a zx 12 and am considering buying either a Yoshi or a Scorpion slip on, which are both in my price range. My mate rides a GSX 1400 with a Yoshi that sounds nice. I believe the Scorpion is a well made option that carries a life time warranty. Tried to get a bit of an idea of what both mufflers sound like on You Tube, but will never be the same as physically standing along side a bike. Can anyone out there give me some personal advice or recommendations. Cheers.

My bike had a Yoshi on it when I bought it and it sounded awesome !! say that the scorpion would more than likely sound very similar as all the pipe company's (generally) use the same ID pipe and similar length.

I agree about the yoshi sounding sweet. Only took mine off to replace it with a full akrapovic system.

How does the akra. system sound, have you had your bike on the dyno. Love to do the same but a bit costly for me. About 2 to 3 grand ?

At idle its a little bit quieter than the Yoshi muffler, but its got a great bark when you've giving it some revs!
I Haven't had a chance to get it on a dyno yet, I'm currently just running the PC3 Euro map from the Dynojet website. The improvement in torque and power is extremely noticeable.
I bought it second hand in mint condition, from a guy that bought a low km ZX12 to turn into a drag bike with a 'sidewinder' style exhaust

sounds awesome. just looked on Ebay, can get an Akra. system for about $1200. Might have to save those pennies I think.
