reasons for selling?

Post by philbo »

What reasons have you had for selling your bike?

It pains me to think of it, but waiting to hear what the work roster is like next year, and its one thing that has crossed my mind about maybe selling my bike.
Due to the fact that its still in Sydney when I'm in Perth, and I don't see it coming back anytime this year, and rumours that I wont have much time next year to ride it.

What are your thoughts?

How attached to it are you?
Can you replace it with another and be as happy once you have the chance?

Just keep it  ....in my two garages I have a ZX6r tracky that hasn't been ridden for 18 months a ZX10 road bike that hasn't been ridden for nearly 3 months and an unregistered VE commodore that hasn't been driven for over 6 months....I work too much but will need them all some day right?.....Plus if I didnt have one I'd want to and have the time every weekend

I'd sell it.

It's worth more now and it will only depreciate
Rego is going to waste
Insurance is going to waste

Just buy another newer model when you get back

My reasons have been:

wanted larger cc bike, wanted to try other brands (mistake), wanted a dedicated trackie and a roadie instead of a brand new roadie, emigrating, because it was an R1, impending baby arrival and needed money!

That pretty much sums up my reasons or excuses for selling bikes so far!

My reason has always been "someone offered what I thought was more than a fair amount of $ for it". So I sold it and bought another that was either cheaper or better! When I got the ZX6R, it was both! :kuda:

You need two bikes. One here and one there. Get a cruiser for WA 8)
It's only money and they don't make pockets in shrouds ;)

If your paying for it to be stored it could always be parked here Phil

Plenty of advice above! Think of it this way, at the end of 2014 would you be more excited to come back to your bike or be shopping for something else?

Ill start the bidding at $50! :)

Oy! Have you been through the Whoops and Corkscrew? The Zig-zag is really twisty but slow. Sure not too many other options close to Perth, but if you are prepared to venture a bit further there is Jarrahdale/Serpentine Dam. There seems to be quite a bit around Dwellingup - I've only been through there once - looking to go again soon...

I put my bike on the market seeing I have not worked full time for nearly a year. But I am rather attached to it so I took it off again. Specially with newer bikes it does usually make sense to sell and buy again - even if you bought the exact model again.

Bring it over, or get a cheapie older bike this side, and let me show you around. Okay I'm pretty slow but you'll find routes to do on your own if you want to get more frisky...

yeah done serpentine damn and it was average gravel all over the road, dwellingup is good but its long open sweepers, not much thought needed to get round it.
where's whoops and corkscrew?

thanks for the input fellas, 2 bikes would be nice one here one there but I cant seem to find this fabled money tree where the money apparently grows from
I am attached to the bike, think i'll have to try and take 2 weeks off and come over for another good ride just to appreciate riding again.
being in WA rego its cheap as only costs bout $220 a year for rego.
