has anyone played with Pirelli supercorsa ?
Hi , planning on some new tires for my bike for a trackday in October but I have seen you can get SP or SC supercorsa's.I know the sc is a track related tyre but I have also seen some people say they need tyre warmers for less heat cycles? just wandering what would be the best tyre for my bike as I run no tyre warmers .

mate I used SuperCorsa's a couple of years ago at a Phillip Island trackday on the 12 - and didn't like them at all. The rear just chewed out really quickly on the l/h side and was sliding around in only 2 sessions. I was using warmers as well. Just didn't feel *good* on the barge, not sure if it was just me or the track or what......but I am not a fan.
If you don't use tyre warmers you just need a good sticky tyre like SportSmarts or Pilot Pures. Still put 2 laps in before you start dragging a knee

Gos I think it was your suspension or pressures. Maybe the torque of the twelve???
I used to use them exclusively for about three years before I went to the Dunlop's. Never did I have that problem.
I found them awesome. Essentially they are a slick with minimal tread in the middle.
I'd get 2 days at PI and 2 at Broady on them.
If you want a super sticky track tyre they are great. If you want to ride on the road in the rain with them don't get them.
They are a road legal tyre so I don't think heat cycles are too much of a problem unless your talking 250 plus cycles.

I have said it before Bridgstone 003rs are great for the track ,I ran them for years without warmers,certainly better than sportsmarts will ever be at a track.

Yep I would agree with that, the BT003 RS is much along the same line as the corsa SP[not SC] the Sportsmart & the racetech . Really track focused tyre that you can use on the road, I have a set of BT003RS on my Ninja 1000 now & I would track them without an issue.
I have raced on Bridgstone slicks Corsa SC1& SC2 slicks & Dunlop 211GP & found them great. So unless your doing sub 1.40s at the creek the SP tyres are fine..

May have just been the torque I think. The pressures were good and the suspension had been sorted by Laurie Smith prior to this trackday. Could have just been me as well, this was only my first double-header at PI so was still getting used to the track.......but I just never got comfortable on the SC's......Jonnymac wrote:.....Gos I think it was your suspension or pressures. In any case, at the 8 hour at PI in 2011 we chewed through supercorsas on the 675Rs. By chewing through, I mean, we'd have been lucky to get a tank of fuel (~45 mins) out of a rear. Had to drop 2 spring rates at the back to get them working great (3 tanks for a rear and 4 to 5 for a front) - that was from stock, and none of the riders were what you'd call svelte. Few others in the pits were suffering from the same thing. Suspicion is that they're a bit softer a construction tyre - so they end up moving around too much if the back is stiffer than they like.
Chucked them on Stace's RGV and they're great. Haven't dropped spring rate but did back the damping off a touch on the back up at Wakefield due to how they appeared to be wearing. Harley from RB had to drop some back end out of his rvf400, for much the same reason. His words were 'feels like the bike has a hinge in the middle and its all flappy at the back'. He rated them more on the RGV, fwiw. Having ridden both his RVF now and the RGV, the RGV is definitely a lot softer at the back... it's a shade lighter, too.
I'm pretty happy with them on the few laps I got on the RGV, bags of grip even compared to the really pretty good Dunnies we had on it before.
Conclusion: great tyre, might need some setup tweaking to get optimum results... if they're softer in terms of construction (not referring to compound) then maybe they work better on smaller/lighter things than a 12? Thoughts on them being softer/needing a more compliant rear end are just a theory I have; not sure I have enough data to support it just yet

They definitely need treating like a proper slick though, they just happen to have a few bits of tread pattern cut through them here and there.

I can totally understand where you are coming from but my bike is a fair bit lighter than the standed product + i only weigh around 85/90 kg suited at the moment and only going the SP series .
