So Wattie, just read the article then, apart from being insanely jealous of you right now I was also perplexed as to why the hell kawi didn't run the better tyres like the other brands.

Its like they wanted to set us up to fail. Despite that, other than the Honda the lap time was only 0.2 behind, I can't help but think it would've been closer if it was running track orientated tyres.

Why is it so oh great Watt man?

The manufacturers got to choose the Tyres. So it's strange that they chose sportsmarts.
Yamaha had 211's, Honda had some 212's? And Suzuki had 211's also.

The Kawasaki got better as the day went on I think. I was second to ride it, and I added rebound on the rear to slow its action down. And others after me tightened it up too.
By the end apparently it was better.
It's HP is awesome, but you had to be up high in the revs to get it going. And when it did go, it chucked mass wheelies!

I asked a couple of Kwaka techo's on the day and the reply was along the lines of 'just doing what were told'. Pointed out everyone else was using track tyres and they werent too fussed about it. Dont think they thought the fat bastard that just tested it could tell the difference ;)

I didn't really notice, but I left tc on.
Shannon Johnson turned every aid off on each bike and just went for it.

I kinda wish I knew my times on the bikes.
I know I did a 43 on the stock Ducati. I accidentally started the GPS lap timer trying to turn high beam off

Thats what they all say ;)

It actually seemed the test riders were cruising most laps before having a 1 or 2 lap dig. Given the number of bikes in a day I dont blame them.

Also with road tyres versus track tyres Id hazard a guess and say the time on the 10 was probably more accute to a road rider having a punt on an occassional trackday as opposed to a dedicated track bike. But I reckon there probably needs to be a standardised tyre for the day. Still its great reading! Probably should buy a copy

Its good that they give open slather on the tyres I just don't understand why kawi didn't seem to care.

The lap time shown was the best of the day not the average punters, average time.
Why wouldn't you put your best foot forward, don't they realize how fickle a lot of Sunday riders are? even if they can't use 50% of the bikes ability they still want to stand in the pub and say my bikes faster than yours.

Not us of course, I ride on Tuesdays lol

Have a look how the ZX-10R went in all the other categories, not just lap time ;) 1st or 2nd in them all, that has to account for something.

In the lap times it says the Honda did a 1:36.09 the next best was the Suzuki with a 1:39:96.Was that a print error?Nearly 4 secs quicker sounds a hell of a lot.Admittedly in the article it does say it was at the best time of the day.

No, not a misprint, the Honda had much better tyres than the Suzuki and Yamaha wo in turn had more racy tyres than the Kawasaki, if that makes any sense.

Everyone was very suprised when it happened. They thought it was a data error and were going to send him out again, but he'd done it almost 3 laps in a row.

Cbr is a great bike. It just lacks excitement, that's it.
