thanks for that ! i seen that one on another website. its the clutch release assembly. the previous owner chewed the phillips head screw and i cant get it out. might have to drill it out tomorrow and easy out.let you know

If you stuff the cases,I have a spare set of S1 cases you can have for a bourbon + postage.All your other stuff will go straight onto 'em.

success!! well sort of! i couldn't get that screw out ,it was just too tight of a space for the cordless drill so i cheated and bent the other side of clutch release assembly bracket until it was just enough to lift the case off. pics attched.
i need your opinions of the crank. does it look ok , does it need to be rebuilt, bit of surface rust on one side, should i take the risk and put it together with new gaskets and see what happens??

Difficult to say by looking at the pics.
But ...if you need your crank shaft rebuilt "Triple Cranks" is your man.
Only trouble is he lives in the USA... but I believe his prices are realistic.

Apparently there are a number of 2stroke crank builders around Sydney and Brisvegas with a good record.Am waiting for further info.
What does The Gos reckon?? Kawadave....with an apparent number of people available,what made you go to the US???I'm a bit surprise you didn't

I guess its was just a case of someone I knew that would do the right job at the right price.

thats what I would be doing. The important things to check is the play on the rods. A bit of lateral play is OK, you don't want more than about 1mm at the little end. Radial play is way more important - you don't want to feel *any* play if you pull or push the rod on the crank. Nothing. As for 2T engine/crank builders - my local old-school mechanic has done a couple of 2T singles for me, but does not have the gear for a multi. There used to be a mob in Melbourne who quoted me about a grand to rebuild the H2 crank a few years ago - would have to dig up the contact for this. There was also a couple of good mechanics in Sydney who used to do bottom-ends but they tend to only get work from word-of-mouth. Col Linney was a z9 legend, but he is long gone unfortunately......
As long as you get those cases sparkling clean and the rod play is minimal - the only other real issue is the condition of the crank seals. These are impossible to check unless the motor is together and you can do a leak-down test.

The crankshaft re builder I mentioned above...charges $350.00, this includes top quality USA made labyrinth seals.
Plus postage back and forth is the killer.

greg ball in Sydney a few months ago rebuilt my dads h2 crank did a top job for what its worth i'd rebuild the crank cause its a bitch to put it back tegther and find out its no good
