Why pikes peak?
Even though its tarred now, it's only open to dirt orientated bikes in competition.

Mate I was actually just having a look at the pikes peak site and it seems there are a lot of bikes competing. Ranging from r1s zrx's to electric bikes, quads and sidecars.

Here's the competitor listing if you'd like to have a further look. I think it would be an interesting watch to see how the riders cope on bigger bikes up in the thinner air.

The sbk bike looks amazing though. Love it.

Kewl.... I know my ZRX was a big biatch on the track. Maybe I need more suspension fiddling done. Still managed to clean up a few with it. ZX12r got me on the straights 250km/h vs 210, but went around the outside of him in the corners. :D
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

I guess he meant 1980s tech, which the ZRX is. I imagine Kawasaki could have built the ZRX in 1984 with the exception of the plated bores and cartridge forks. It's just a bored out GPZ900R really.

Pikes Peak is about a 7 hour ride from Salt Lake and well worth the trip to watch the looney's race to the top. What you don't see, (unless you look closely) is the drop offs if you make a mistake and don't make a corner. I think Pike's was more exciting before they paved it. Next time I go I'll get pictures.
