US source of OEM parts

Hi all,

Wondering who is recommended for purchase of Kawasaki parts out of the US. I know of some larger sellers, but I've no idea how much they slam you for postage - anyone got a recommendation ?

Thanks fellas, no joy at this time - looks like the old wiring loom is no longer available. Off to e-bay I go !

a wiring loom from any Z1000MkII, Z1RMkII 1979/80 will do the job. You could even use a wiring harness from an earlier Z1000 77/78 in a pinch. The basics didn't change that much.

Could be worth checking with old mate at Redline. I have bought parts off him in the past, he does break these models for parts, you never know what he might have stashed on his shelves

Plenty of used parts available, but I really would like a new loom; I have too many unpleasant memories of electrical faults with my 74 Z400 and 77 Z1000, enough so I'd rather avoid potential gremlins by re-using an old loom.

Thanks for the tip though, will give him a try. Not sure A1-A2 would work, given the different ignition in the 79-80s.

Also, do you have alocal source for checking part numbers ? Found a loom on ebay last night, where the part number doesn't come up on buykawasaki.com . That makes me think its for anotehr market, so it could be perfect for me.

Lastly Gos (while I'm being a pest), I don't suppose you've had a word with your mate about the seat fitment ?

i have been meaning to mention this here for a while for all those doing resto's.

He might have what your after, this is one of those potential gold mines, he is a "different" oldskool charicture types of (ex race) rider/mechanic with a long memory, big knowledge and big heart (ffs, dont dis' his cat) who has stuff from the 1960's onwards stuffed away in a big shed, ( no shopfront just a backstreet big shed). i mean the stuff in the isles is higher than the shelves and they are 12' high, lots of really old chambers, pipes, wheels, front ends, guards, tanks and general old bike stuff hanging way up in the rafters with 30 years dust on it.
He use to buy old stock from bikeshops going out of business for many years.

You cant make out anything properly on the shelves for all the stuff and tyres within 3meters from the door, it hurts your brains excitment centre just looking at it all, i kid you not this is the 4th dimensions shelves on steroids Gos would jizz his pants in there, several times, and need medical attention.

But he will remember he has it somewhere, so give him a call.

i have no idea if he will ship it but I am happy to go and deal with him on your behalf

There is a guy in south Gibsland that advertises in Just Bikes under Storks Wiring who is know retired but still works from home.Name is Greg Cook. ph 0407 212 038.
From what one guy said he built a complete harness for a old sl 175 for $120.00 and it was all properly color coded and everything and they seem to think you couldnt get a better bloke to deal with,wont hurt to give him a ring and see what he can do.
