Kev, that will be no trouble at all. You just want center to center on the dog bones? I'have a look tomorrow for you and pm you. If your after the shock linkage spec i'll be removing it and the swing to regrease very shorty.

hipstir come and say hello my bike is a h1 number 94 black and green .kev i will bring a p model linkage with me to see the diffrence there isnt much room for a change in linkage with the p model the shock hits on the hight adjuster put longger dog bones in and the rear is to low put the shorter ones in and the shock hits ????

Is the P model linkage what you ended up using on your H1 Troy?

still running original setup kev the p might work with a bit of modifying with the swing arm height adjuster

Got home today after work and started pulling the bike down. This bike isn't running a fuel pump and the alloy tank has no breather, this is given me some concern as I feel that this might cause a vapour lock. I'm going to give the farings a fresh coat of paint I'm now in 2 minds get a standard tank and hope not rusted or modify this 1 with a breather.

I haven't measured how much fuel the tank will take yet, how many liters fuel would you need per race?

Wow, that's a serious alloy race tank Rob, nicely hidden away too. No wonder the coils were mounted on the outside of the frame. Seems strange there isn't a breather, hard to imagine a vapour lock not forming with that set up. I usually go through around 2-3 litres of fuel per race on my 9, track dependent of course.

Thanks Kev for the link it would be nice to have, I think it might be a waste of such a nice tank on a trakebike with a inexperinced rider. At least I can knock dents out of this dummy tank, I might try to figure out how and were to put a breather on the alloy tank.

Carbon fiber tank would sure be pretty I think everyone would like to have carbon fibre. I'll just have to make do with the carbon fiber airbox for my dose.

I pulled all the insulation of the airbox to clean up and repair and reinsulate, I want to make better seals around the carby manifolds while I'm at it.

Here's a couple of better photos for you Kev & Troy of the shock linkage. No makers mark only a part number.

I have broken the bike down and have ordered most of the parts needed, time to repair, repaint and service the pile of parts that is now sitting in my garage as time and parts arrive. I haven't gone too much into the motor yet although I did pull the cam cover of and measured the camshaft lobes, seems to have some larger cams & slotted camshaft sprockets. My manual tells me cam lobe height for J & L models are with in a service limit of 35.39 - 35.53 I measured up intake 37.0 & exhaust 36.7. Anyone got any idear on the cam timing, what degree's for intake & exhaust. I also notice that it's only got a single spring per valve. I can't see to much port work done except for the the intake & carby manifold matched.

Yep, there's nothing standard about that shock linkage Rob. I wonder who made it and correct me if I'm wrong, but is the centre bush adjustable?

Sounds like the cams you have got are racing kit cams with adjustable sprockets. The dimensions you measured are exactly the same as the kit cams. As for the timing, I reckon you're probably better off referring to the racing kit manual for that too as it sounds like you have got yourself a well kitted out donk there and the standard workshop manual isn't going to be much good to you. Here's a couple of screen dumps of specs for the timing and cam lobe dimensions from the kit manual and here's a link for the website I just downloaded it from:

Thanks Kev for the link, that just what was needed.

Yeah the link has an eccentric setting with the 2 lower clamping bolts holding it in position, adjustment is made by loosen the bolts and using something like a small tommy bar. I haven't played with it yet but your quite welcome too when you borrow it.

Feeling a lot better the more i dig into the bike as to it's story with previous owner. I now can't wait to have a look as to what other things have been done inside the engine when later on I lift the head off and freshen it up.
