Dents in Tanks

Post by Glen »

Bitch, Bugger, F*%#

Noticed Ive got a tiny dent right in the top of the tank on the ZRX. No idea how it got there (although I suspect a dirt bike may have fell over on it :x) and its not real noticeable but it shits me to tears. Theres no chip in the paint or anything either.

My question is........is there an inexpensive way to get it sorted. Ive had paintless dent removal done on cars with great results but not on a bike. Anyone got any ideas? I dont want to get it repainted etc as its really not worth it. Its just a tiny ding that craps me off when I look at it.

Hi Glen

Give Glenn from Allfixed a call, I think he sent a customers bike to a paintless dent remover and had good results. Though I'm not sure if it was the guy next door to him, I think it may have been some one else. BTW Glenns not back on deck untill Monday.

Cheers

Yeah the guy next door to Glen is an expert & did a few dents on my F250, don't know if he can work on a tank with not being able to reach the other side but he might have a magic wand :D

The dent mobs access tanks from underneath- luckily you have fuel tap and fuel level senders that can be removed to give them access. Still depends upon where the dent is though as to whether they can access it. I have a small dent in my ZRX tank and a few chips but couldn't give a shit coz I have a brand new tank upstairs in a box.

Ouch! I got mine outta insurance after mine had a little lie down at 50km/h....

Got a spare ZRX1100 one too. Not quite the same but can be made fit.

Cap and tap are different- you have to use 1100 ones on a 1100 tank. Other difference is rear mount on frame- need to remove it off frame- two spot welds IIRC, then move rubber damper to hole already there.
