I reckon a stock 12 will have more clearance than a 14. But you can tweak the suspension to work better.....which lets you crank it harder......which uses up all available clearancesillywilly wrote:......Yep gos the zx14 is good in most situations except granya i could use a touch more clearance am going to get some rear set plates to lift my pegs a touch only need about a inch that will fix the prob would rather not hang off the bike to much but have to a fair bit .Do u recon a zx12 has much more clearance then a 14 I've owned 2 and id say yes but I'm not sure what u recon?.....

I have not had the chance to take a 14 for a decent strop along a good road like Granya or Reefton, so can only guess at what they would be like. The 14's I have ridden have only been on local roads with not much opportunity to give them a decent pizzling......so they are still an unknown quantity. If Marty was dragging the pegs inside 5 corners, well that just about tells me that they don't have a lot of clearance compared to a 12 ? I have seen his Rex cranked to the max though !

Re: tuono zrx or z1000?
I touched the peg on the ZRX on the deck a couple of times before I had the suspension upgraded and flipped the eccentrics. Since then, they have stayed well clear.

Bejeezus sillywilly.... man, if ground clearance is your main concern, buy a ZX-10 and be fuckin' done with it.
I had a '99 1100,did 149k over 7yrs,now have an '05 1200 with close to 100k.Both mine from new. I reckon the 11 is the better in the twisty stuff, and the 12 is the better in the wide open stuff.
I love my 12 to death, but should've kept the 11 and spent the money from buying the 12 on 'doing up' the 11.
But I did'nt and am still majorly happy.

Re: tuono zrx or z1000?
That's cool wattie .how comfortable is it? That looks like the go
Re: tuono zrx or z1000?
Advantage of that is that a Gen 1 ZX-10R (or crim) are pretty cheap these days. I've riden the ubermotard and its pretty comfy, and I'd also say it has more leg room that my ZRX. The leg room is the only thing on a ZRX that could do with some improvement (along with the std suspension but thats fixable)
I wouldnt expect your licience to last all that long on this weapon though.........seems to want to go everywhere like a unicycle

Yeah it's reasonably comfy, but a lot more weight in your ass then used to be. And zx10 seats were not designed with that in mind.
The unicycle thing can be a bit of an issue as Phil says.
Once you get used to the change in handling its ok. You need heavier spring in rear and back the front all the way off.
