tuono zrx or z1000?

Post by sillywilly »

How u all going just wondering does anyone on this site own a new tuono? Ive been tossing up weather to get a new or older tuono a zrx or a z1000 i had a 05 tuono it was very fast machine in the mountains +kept my speed down on the straighter sections as 130 actually felt like 130 with my zx14 i am going to loose my licence. heard the new t has hopeless fuel econ is this correct? one of the main thing with the bikes i ride they need to be able to get me to khancoban roughly 170klm with out getting fuel at walwa. The 05 tuono i owned probably wasn't the best bike ever back brake hardly worked had a few oil leaks but there was just something about it. Maybe its time for a zrx or a z1000 let me know what u all recon cheers :kuda:

Cant help with the new Tuono, but my mates 06 gets crap economy. A stock Z1000 will out perform a stock ZRX1200, but who round here rides stock bikes

I've ridden quite a few of the new Z1000's and I like them very much. They are a completly different animal to my ZRX, much more like a sportsbike with a sensible sitting position.

Cheers phil. Ive also considered a zx10 with upright bars they look like they would be great fun and comfortable i think there is a couple of members that have this setup ? Can i get some info on how comfortable the zx10 with the upright bars is in comparison to a 05 tuono i found my tuono very comfortable ?

I've owned all three, '03ZRX, '05Z1000 and currently own an '07Tuono. They are all very different bikes. The V2 or new V4 Tuono wont get you 200ks without filling up, so you can discount those straight away, but if you ride the new V4 Tuono and have the cash, you will buy it, don't expect your licence to last as long as on the 14 tho'
The Z1000 handled better, braked better, and was a bit quicker than the ZRX, but I preferred the ZRX for some unknown reason :?
Depends on your priorities tho' If you want a mode of transport, get the Z1000, if you want something with style and character get the ZRX, if you want the biggest grin on your face every time you ride, get a Tuono, V2 or V4.

The wind is going to shit you on any of those bikes, they are all much of a muchness when it comes to wind protection, the ZRX is the pick of the bunch for long distance tho'.
Here's an idea, keep the '14 for touring, and get a Tuono for weekend blasts and trackdays

07 zx10 is fine, last trip to the island and back, no dramas at all. Yep your licence is a risk but you can do your licence on almost anything if you are not carefull
06 zx10r - road
99 zx7r - trackie
77 z1000 - project

For the price of the Aprilia you could have a ZRX and Z1000. There was an 08 Z1000 on ebay the other day for $3400. No spare cash at the mo, or I would have bought it.
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

like when you are cranked and scratching ?? I don't think there would be a massive difference, the 14 may have a tad more ?

Gos, a 14 will touch down a lot earlier than a ZRX. In all the time I rode mine, I never touched a peg on the deck......................err........except when I tipped it over on Hotham   But that was scraping the bars, tank and seat, not just the pegs  . Whereas, first 14 I rode, I decked it within 5 corners?? :? Plus the fairing drags as well. With the Rex, if the pegs were on the deck, then so was I....... ;)

Yep gos the zx14 is good in most situations except granya i could use a touch more clearance am going to get some rear set plates to lift my pegs a touch only need about a inch that will fix the prob would rather not hang off the bike to much but have to a fair bit .Do u recon a zx12 has much more clearance then a 14 I've owned 2 and id say yes but I'm not sure what u recon?
