Yep I have the Ventura Estoril seat bag and like it. It zips down for everyday use or expands enough to get all the gear in for the CDT trip

Re: Seat bag for a zx14?
So I came up with this bit of kit..with multipule future uses..
Put it 2 the test down 2 PI & back

Alpine stars 44ltr duffle bag...
Alpinestars charger back pack..
Tanka weather proof luggage protector..
4 Rolo Reflective Straps..........the backpack straps lock around the bag
1 strap around bags 2 over onto handles, 1 spare
60 ltr backpack rain protector...zips & covers everything..
I packed in plenty & it didnt move once, all up under $250..

we have all done the above before but it becomes a pain in the arse if you are traveling and having to hitch it on and off all the time

2 minute job Russ...3 straps. Better than a gear rack i reckon...Worked out cheaper than a cple of ventura saddle bags..and the back packs always handy.Blurr wrote:we have all done the above before but it becomes a pain in the arse if you are traveling and having to hitch it on and off all the time

Re: Seat bag for a zx14?
young1 i think i will stick with a seat bag i usually have ventura rack set up i recon u can't beat it. Knowing my luck i wouldn't put the straps on properly and lose all my gear but cheers for the input also has anyone tried the ventura imola seat bag i think its the bigger seat bag of the 2 ventura seat bags ? keep the opinions coming

Re: Seat bag for a zx14?
I had a Joe Rocket seat bag on my 10R. It expanded to fit a full face helmet and was very secure with velcro straps under the pillion seat.
Was around $80 or $90 new from Bikegearwarehouse before they closed down....
Same as this... You might pick one up here if it's what you are looking for....

Re: Seat bag for a zx14?
My riding mate Kerry, used a seat bag on her GPX250 and also her ER-6.Not real big, about 5 shoeboxes I reckon. It had nothing to do with a rack of any sort,it had it's own system of connecting to the rear seat.It tended to move about a bit after a few thousand k's,so 2 Andy Strapz were then put into service.Don't remember the brand but that thing has gone, and she now uses throwover saddlebags on her SV650 and also a small size tankbag.
Much more betterer idea!!
I also use a larger size Bagster tankbag.Have used tankbags for 30 odd yr's,I love 'em.Have also strapped a backpack to pillion seat for the same time, though 1/2 the size of the one Mr young1 shows.Thats way too big I reckon.Try Andy Strapz young1,much better/safer than occy straps.
We are off on our Bi-yearly 'big' trip in march, bout 8wk's this one.......
You'll get what ya get and adapt to it......and probably defend the usefulness of your own "system".
We all do.

Re: Seat bag for a zx14?
Not a chance in Hell. The convenience of a gear rack that you can slip on and off and carry all of your gear in is far better than strapping anything down or any seat bags. The only thing more convenient might be panniers, but I've never used them and I'm not about to add any more weight to my subframe of my bike as it's at maximum capacity as it is.young1 wrote: Better than a gear rack i reckon...

Re: Seat bag for a zx14?
Nelso i agree ventura rack set up is the best set up i have come across most secure apart from a top box . looking for the next best thing just needs to be big enough for a few days away +i have my tank bag but it shits me to use it anyway thats another story. I would like a seat bag that is secure that dosent move around to much.
Re: Seat bag for a zx14?
Just saw an ad in Road Rider for sw-mototech at motorradgarage.com.au
The rearbag looked promising.
