Some of the new 600's give my ZX10 a run down the straight until you hit the 240kph mark. They have come a long way in the last 6 years, just like the litre bikes have!

I would think TC and ABS on a road bike would be more for poor or wet road conditions. But then, about 70% of riders have poor riding skills and poor throttle and brake control, so these will benefit the majority of numpty road riders. You just have to look around and notice the number of hyper sports bikes with massive chicken strips, or watch a slow group session at a track day to realise why they are putting electronics on road bikes.

I hear u to nelso, yer for the people that dont have the skill or arnt up to it yet, for sure.... but.. what is it teaching the new crop of road riders???? mate i spent 7 years 6 days a week teaching them, and some of them are well............ u know.
I think its teaching them to be lazy and relying on aids way to much to get them out of trouble, and we all know that that aint the truth.. but i dont blame bike makers for fitting all this, they have to, or be left behind, and that dont sell. i get progress.. i think.... but im just a BIG beliver in the rider having complete contol over what his in charge of.... its sort of worked for me so far.... racing is different of course...

Boys if you believe the marketing hype..their saying they have shifted the focus back to more of the road rider..occasional track day user, I quite like the idea of all these latest tech & specs..A bit egotistical maybe ?? Unrealistic or impractical don't no...I'll let you no after I've ridden it. But it's nice to know it's there..so if it saves me out on the road & means the track days are more fun with less chance of me sending it sliding or me flying all good..just my thoughts & have to agree with nelsos last statement.

U young bucks... get with the the program and go old skool there is more to be learnt with what u got in that right wrist... and im not talking about how fast u can work it up and down get on a bike with a bit of HP and a quick action throttle and u will learn a wee bit yer im just a way to old fucker.. but im havin fun doin what i learnt 35 years ago , and can still lay some ok blackies off the turns.... isnt that where the fun is

From what I read I can't really justify it over my '09 model.

- Better callipers, yeah... but the ones on mine were pretty awesome already and now have much better pads on them.
- More power/torque, yep! I'd like those. But my bike has a full Leo that I wouldn't be able to use on that bike... same goes for the Bazzaz QS (especially now with only 4 injectors), filter, rearsets (guessing), braided lines and etc and even if it all fit I'd still have to get it mapped again.

Other than that, it's a bit heavier, the slipper clutch got worse (again, reviews...) and I'd have to buy/do everything I've done to this bike all over again. And believe me, I didn't enjoy doing any of the mods... if it wasn't for the riding part, I'd have sold my bike a long time ago!

So in the end, even if one turned up at the auctions tomorrow for a very decent price, I'd still stick with mine!

Does anyone actually 100% like moding bikes, I'm sure there a few layers of skin, blood, misalignments and a lot of f@cks within the fairings to be found on all modded bikes.

Whether or not the 636R over the 600R has a sizeable advantages on/off the track is yet to be determined.

I have loved working on all my bikes!!!!! (Except fitting and removing the vfr's carbys, which I done a billion times )
And I would take any kawa 600 in my shed
This one does look the goods and next years one will be "technically" better anyways

Well for you young fella I recommend a quiet ride to the outskirts of Goulburn where the first official Australian road race was held (well they say the first but anyone can claim it) it was around the early 1920s, (someone can confirm) on dirt roads with creek crossings. Don't worry too much the average speed was over 100km/h on a rigid bike with refueling every lap.

Yes back then you had to kick start it, no suspension, drum brakes, what could be called a carby injection system, tyres well they were black and round, rider aids were called trees as they stopped you going to far into the bushes. In another 100 years well you can pretty much repeat what you have said just it will read a little differently.

I am pretty sure Casey Stoner is in agreement with you only he wants to see the most advanced bike with the best rider.

You are right that today's generation would struggle with yesteryear equipment, but thank f..k we have moved on. That is called evolving, maybe growing old is part of this process?

Im down in melbourne CBD, will be heading to the island tomorrow morning, is the weather any better on the island than what it is here, lucky I packed a can of HTFU. Fri & sat looks shite according to the forecast, sunday looks like a day of dry racing.
