Yep, Will have a crack at it tomorrow. Downside is if i dont bleed it correctly brakes won't work. So i'll stick to my driveway as the test area lol. Most of the video's i saw before making this thread essentially all used these "professional" bleeding kits. I am eager to learn unfortunately don't have any one to guide me when it comes to bikes. So figured i'd use youtube & the help from the community.

as sturx said......''my 'bleeding kit' is phillips head s/driver-8mm ringy-big coffee jar with a hole in the lid-2ft clear tubing to fit on bleed nipple & some clean rags''.

this is all you will need and all i have ever used, the coffee jar and clear tube is only to catch the brake fluid so it doesn't get all over your bike and so you can see any air bubbles.

you should be able to tell if they are bled properly straight away or at the most walking pace.

let us know how ya go.

iamwithstupid.gif 2mm of pad left = time to change your pads. Your fluid gets lower as the pads wear out, that's why you had none left in the reservoir.

Sounds good, the site is very helpful. As for brake pads decided to go with either EBC or SBS don't know which one is better, unless someone else has had some good reviews with other one's. Will head to the store to buy some super dot 4 brake fluid in a bit and then start on the diy job.

Well at a crossroads at the moment. Took it down to the guy at mcas to buy the brake fluid & pads (were not in he has to order them).

He checked my bike said pads still have a lot of life on them. Which i found odd looked up the kawi book it said 1mm = change.
He said there wasn't any brake fluid in it so opened it up as he couldn't do it and....... to our surprise the brake fluid is topped up. Felt like a complete idiot at this point. He checked my rotar's & said front one's are really smooth compared to the back as if it were glazed with something. Bought brake cleaner fluid as instructed, to clean the rotar's incase anything was on it. Done all that and still nothing. Any idea's anyone? I didn't have this issue before just started up about wednesday.

At the moment the resistance is at about half way. As in i can only pull the lever all the way as hard as i can and it comes to about halfway and a bit.

This all sounds a bit, (lot) confusing.... without having a look, i think most will be at a loss to to work it out now :? :?
If ur lever is only coming halfway back, then u should have brake pressure???
I recommend that u talk someone here to go have a look, or try and get it to them???

If pads ok, fluid ok, disc's ok, than it shoud be ok...
Are u sure u didnt panic at the time???

Mate i taught learners for 7 years.. and the hardest thing was trying to teach people to stop the dam thing   Maybe.... u should get someone to take u out somewhere and run u thru it all??? i would, but im in melbourne.
Learning to pull the thing up in a panic stop is something u really need to learn... no point trying to learn when u life depends on it... that dont work.

Just get them sorted correctly, brakes are sort of important :) :)

I would put money on the fact that you just fucked up and there is nothing wrong with your brakes. ;)
