Photo comp: need theme and some prizes...

Post by tim »

Thinking of having another KSRC photo comp. Previous ones have been a lot of fun, with everyone submitting their photos, then a Short list and final voting. Seems like just about everyone has a dslr these days, and the cameras on our phones are pretty impressive so there's no excuse :)

Things needed if we go for it:
- prize/prizes
- topic/theme

Ideas?

NOOOO... the mrs gets the shits when i suggest this.

Theme: Light & Dark. People can get all creative with night time lighting :)
Prizes: Homefully a nice forum sponsor can throw up some goodies, in exchange for the photo comp. title ie. Kaneg's September Photo Comp :) nudge nudge wink wink

I need a front stand

Any rules?!

Suggestions:
Only pictures taken in the month of September can qualify
... otherwise some peoples (ie. ME) will just whip out some of old pics they have in the archives

Metadata (EXIF) should remain un-altered
Assist verification on image capture date and get some techy info on how the pic was taken, what gear you use etc.

Yep sounds good. I rekon image manipluation allowed in the name of creativity.

And the story of how the image was achieved could be included as part of the entry :)

When a photo is resized and renamed do you loose the EXIF data?

Just realised I said the opposite to this. I think we can trust our fellow KSRCians to be honest that they took the photo.

Other peoples thoughts? Allow shots taken before the comp started? Problem with not allowing them is we might not get many entries.....

Actually, lets have two sections for prizes: "Light and Dark" and "General bike/KSRC photos" and the entry period longer than a month.... 2 or 3 maybe...

EXIF data remains when resizing... at least in the examples I see.

Agree a 3 month comp is good, run it up towards end of November.
