Yes that is what is taught - in regard to safe riding techniques and avoiding collisions.Blurr wrote:......Aren't we all taught in our Stay Upright licence course that the person responsible for our own safety 'is ourselves', don't leave it up to others to ensure crash avoidance?.....
It's not about what you wear.

I don't agree with the proposed change, I just don't think the argument that it is the other drive job to see us is one that holds much water.Gosling1 wrote:Yes that is what is taught - in regard to safe riding techniques and avoiding collisions.Blurr wrote:......Aren't we all taught in our Stay Upright licence course that the person responsible for our own safety 'is ourselves', don't leave it up to others to ensure crash avoidance?.....

On the other hand the scenario that, the rider is at fault in a collision because he wasn't wearing Fluro is very discrimitive.
Bring on more driver training I say.

The statement "I didn't see you" by another motorist is code for "I didn't bother looking" .....
I've spent over 40 years of my life riding bikes .... the rest of it, I wasted ..

I wear Hi Vis EVERY day for work on my motorcycle and it makes NO difference to people giving way. They still don't! Even painted my bikes bright orange in attempt to make them more visible with no discernable difference from when they were a different colour.

Re: Motorcycle riders may swap leathers for fluoro vests
know ppl who have tried to change lanes while a bright red semi was next to them ( i was in the car
) people who dont bother to head check in the car wont see shit. With a lime green bike, i think flour is a bit redundant, just as the pic above says
Let the good times roll.

Re: Motorcycle riders may swap leathers for fluoro vests
This Police wants everyone else to wear high viz because he wears it himself...............how about that police also wear full one piece race leathers when on duty, since race leathers is more proven to protect riders from injuries.
Better yet, why dont they legislate that ALL car drivers and passengers wear race suits and helmets when driving?........thats also been proven by race car drivers to protect from serious injuries.
Why are riders being unfairly targetted?

Primarily because we're a minority, secondly we're very apathetic when it comes to fighting legal battles, writing letters to politicians etc, 3rdly we are killing ourselves a little quicker than what we should be, doesn't look good on the books.AznCruiser wrote:Why are riders being unfairly targetted?
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"
