credit where its due

Post by TONY-J »

so i head for the hills with my dad today and we are having a great ride, we are cruising through the gorge rd at a decent rate but still bieng cautious due to it being so wet latley and a decent green line in the middle of the road in some parts.
any way just coming up to a parking bay that we always stop at, and i round the last bend slowing down and there is a cop with a speed gun on me straight away.

he pulls me into the bay i was stopping at anyway, asks me do i know exactly what spped i was doing, i replyied no and he shows me 91kph an its a 80kph zone.

i thought fair enough you got me, but nope he just says slow down, watch your speed and be careful cos its pretty slimey and sent me on my way.

he didnt look at my bike at all and he didnt even look at my licence.

i just thought i would share with others as it really did give me hope there are a few good ones left that arnt waiting for you to be a couple km over or just looking for a loud pipe or fender eliminator.

he seemed fair and like a genuine nice guy. so like i said just giving credit where it is due and happy to keep my demerit points today. :D

Good news.
When I think back -
* most times I've been pulled up It has been a reasonable cop and I got off with a warning :)
* when I have been booked it for something I did but usually the lowest fine/points :)
* there are many, many times I've got away with some 'spirited' driving/riding 8)

How can you be posting this? Don't you know speed kills, clearly you were over the speed limit so how come you aren't dead? Perhaps because you're not in Victoria only thing I can put it down too...

i am so used to getting every power trip a*#hole cop just searching for a reason to pinch ya, so i was very pleased when he was so relaxed about it, and even more happy i was pulling up anyway.
im always polite but always expecting the worse even on a "random" licence check.

like i said before i just thought it was worth a mention an a thumbs up to him.

i seem to always get the knaarnts too, they used to warn me....... now the first thing they say is "this is being video recorded from the vehicle" and even if they wanted to take pity, they have to book ya, there are daily targets to make, and other people paid to go throught the days video, thats what i have found in sydney.

anyway... its good to hear there a some humans left in the force....

Particularly those SA bastards... they're arseholes. :D

I've had a couple of reasonable blokes. One got me for overtaking on Double Lines... started tearing me a new arsehole and then when I took my helmet off and he realised I was an old bastard, still tore me a new arsehole but in a "you should know better" kind of way. Let me off with a "don't ride like a dickhead"

Scooter cop on the old road had the gun on me at 80 in a 60 but didn't pull me over. I was riding the Rex and was cruising through corners not jumping on the gas hard etc so I assume he worked out I wasn't being a knob.

I was on the M7 one day overtaking a truck at about 110 in a 100 when a cop came whizzing up behind me. Didn't have the siren on but looked like he wanted to get where he was going in a hurry so rather than slow down and hold him up I booted the SS up to about 120, got past the truck and moved to the left lane. He gave me a wave as he hooted past.

The last 3 times I have been let off, once in Adelaide and twice in Sydney. In all 3 occasions I knew I was a "little" over. The last time they could have taken the licence and with two officers in the car I figured it was going to end badly. It didn't, a quiet chat and all good.

My dad said to me from very early on, they are doing their job because of you doing what you are doing, and if there weren't people like you they wouldn't need HWP. Don't lie as radars don't and treat others as you would treat yourself. Those words have worked well for me
