MGPvs Full jardine1 system & servicing

Post by TyM2Go »

Hey guys,
I have been in active for a while. Recovering and back to work. I recently went to buy the MGP growler for bgw but the guy had a full system jardine 1 megaphone for 50 bucks extra. So I am here trying to get some info, as i don't know much about the jardine1. Could you guys add to list the pro's and con's. So far i have gathered this.

MGP -350$
Pro's : Loud, less chance of cager's just switching lanes without seeing. Esthetically looks good. Slip-on so install should be easier. Light so power to weight ratio should increase. It should give faster acceleration unless it looses hp at low rpms. If i get defected. I can easily switch no need of re jetting.

Cons: Loud, Getting pulled over is a big chance. I have 5 am starts, so it'll piss of everyone in my suburb. Does not come with a baffle/sound suppressor/ sound reducing insert

Jardine 400$
Pros : Full system for 400 bucks pretty cheap, Looks good with the megaphone style exhaust. Assuming it is loud as they claim, less chance of cager's just switching lanes without seeing, Comes with a sound reducing insert

Cons: Re jetting needed (I don't know how to do this so a lot of money will be wasted with a mechanic i presume). I don't know how to install it. (if someone is willing to help me out if i go this route, would be appreciated.) I have been told it is loud but never heard one in person. Heard you loose 1/2 your ponies in terms of acceleration when trying to hit 0-60(don't have info on if it was re jetted or not.) If i get hit with a defect & have to take of the can. I would require re jetting again for the stock i presume?. [Speculation]The end of the exhaust is not to far from the RHS foot pedal so it might cause a problem

Feel free to add to the list. So far the MGP is winning. Could you guys give me the estimates of how much it will cost to get all this done and fitted at a mechanic?

SERVICING
When i first started riding with you guys. Some of you told me that there is a mechanic who's, a member here and i should take my bike to him rather then take it to bike biz parra (Got some lovely scratches put on the last time around)
Could you give me the details to contact this person/the store.
I am just curious here. How much would i be looking for a 6k service for a 250r ninja? & would the servicing people install the exhaust/full system for a bit of extra money with the service it self?

Looking forward to your input guys

Regards
Fitzy

Bout $200 for 6k service, and yeah they will put it on but will prob rape your wallet for the priviledge.

I never got my bike rejetted but had a slip on.

From memory you are in the west. Look at the sponsor page and get the details for Allfixed at Castle Hill or Kelens at Penrith. I can't speak for Allfixed but lots on hear rave about them. I have nothing but very good things to say about Kelens. Call them both ask a few questions and make your decision.
Also for the extra $50 I would go the Jardine. I don't think either would make much difference over the other. Which ever one you think looks best is the one to go for.

Yea i can't seem to decide right now it all depends on, the cost of the full system jardine GP 1 as, I am not sure how much it will cost for the labor considering from what i have been told re jetting is a lot to do with trial and error. So if i have a rough estimate of how much the re jetting / install will cost then it would make it much easier to choose.

Yes I am in the west Parramatta area.

As for the servicing. I don't really care who does it, long as the bloke take's care of my precious and get's the job done. The guy's i used to ride with hoffy, 6maniac, hibster, russian spy, smitty etc etc cant recall all their names (sorry about that). Said some one about a guy name glen. Can't remember the exact details at this point. Hopefully if they read it and lemme know would be awesome

Thanks in advance :kuda:

Glen is Allfixed at Castle Hill. Recommended ;)

Buy the slipon its only a few bolts and easy enough to work out. The full system and rejetting will be dollars down the drain.

Yep had a feeling about that. I figured id get an aftermarket pipe since, I am on my red P's and as I wont be applicable for the 25 age rule in time. This way at least Cager's will think twice about switching lanes without caution.

Kidding right?
Some of em are off in fairy land even if you have a loud pipe

And no point for a full system on a 250, slip on is all you need
