Pillion seat lock won't unlock! Please help

Hi guys,
I have a 2010 Ninja 250R and I'm having trouble popping the pillion seat.
When I insert the key, it will only go in halfway. The key obviously won't turn and I can't get the seat off!
I haven't had any problem with it before this and I opened it without any problem 2-3 weeks ago.
Do dealers take it off when they service the bike?
The only thing I can think of is that they took it off when I took it in for 12,000km service two days ago and broke it while putting it back on?
I just can't comprehend how something that worked fine only recently and hasn't been touched since then suddenly stops working.
Do you have any suggestions on how to get it open apart from taking it back to the dealer?

call the dealer. they do take it off

Just a quick one. Get some WD40 and give it a good squirt into the lock, see if that makes a diff. Otherwise straight back to the dealer.

Have you got anything in the compartment cause I sort of had something similar on my bike and turned my rain pants were obstructing the lock and was difficult to unlock

Bent key?. Just take it back to the dealer. I good way to get told to f%$k off is to bust in and tell them they stuffed it when they did the service. Just be nice now OK.

have you tried with your spare key?

Try leaning on the seat as you turn the key.Are you sure it has always gone in the full length of the key??

The dealer will take the seat off during a service 2 check the battery.

I would say try a bit of WD40, then go see the dealer. Play nice and i'm sure they will play nice also.

graphite is better for locks than anything wet
