Re: NOT a Kawasaki- The KTM Build up - MORE New Pics...!! ;-
OK, I have been flat out working on the KTM,
Lots of small things that you cant really see, brackets for the race glass, COX radiator guard, support brackets for when you remove the stand and other electrical mods. But I have been able to get hold of a race ducktail that fits perfectly, plus I really wanted to use the stock seat, so that took a bit of mucking around with the dremel to get the backing plate just right, but it is all done now and mounts up very solid !!
I also got the ASV levers fitted, these are excellent quality.. I have never used them before, but I am very impressed. And the JCE pipe finally arrived. This was also a masterpiece in pipe work. I love it when you buy something that is handbuilt by professionals and it fits up exactly with no problems at all.. perfect..
This pipe weighs a couple of kilos, where the stock pipe is like 15 + !! So heavy.. This bike is turning out to be one of my best build ups... Cant wait to get it to the track..
So here are a few more pics of the current updates.. oh and dont forget the 'ktm' brake and clutch socks... nice touch there.. He He. All is left to do it to cut the hole in the belly pan for the new pipe, service the bike (already got the new oil and filter) and it will be ready for paint.. then tyres and it is totally done..
Enjoy the pics..

Nice Macca,
You have to much money by the way
My mate who has a RC8 has the same pipe as you im pretty sure.
He has also gone a smaller sprocket on the front to keep with the thou's
he has had every seal replaced due to leak's and has had the clutch reservoir hose clamp fail and dump fluid everywhere so he now runs fuel line hose clamps to stop that from ever happening again.
They sound really good with that pipe and have a snow flake indicator when its freezing outside
His gets about 200k per tank and when we go on rides his bike gets the most attention out of all of us it looks sensational.
If it were me I would matt black the bike but the orange looks really good & Im a big fan of the look of there mirrors

Some pics of his

Re: NOT a Kawasaki- The KTM Build up - MORE New Pics...!! ;-
Thanks for the comments Pittster and Blackster..!!
This motorcycle addiction is certainly an expensive one, but I am hooked.. what can I say..
I just love building up bikes, tracking them for a while then moving them on... at least with all of my bikes I have a photo diary of exactly what I have done, I always build them up professionally and also test ride all of them at the fastest track is Aust.. I have never had a customer say one bad thing about my bikes.. they are always super impressed with the finished product..!!
I spent this afternoon completing the belly pan mods as well as modifying a couple of fairing mounts to better fit with the muffler brackets.. got the dremel out and cut the exhaust hole, plus trimmed a bit more near the front middle radiator mount where it was nearly touching.. As far as the bodywork goes, it is now totally finished. It took a bit longer to get it all done today and it's way too cold in the shed, so the service can wait...!! Will do that tomorrow..
Then is will be fairings in for paint... I think I will swap the front sprocket over for the 16 tooth while I am waiting for them to come back and all track mods will be completed.. waiting for August 19th for a return to Phillip Island..
I did read a lot about the problems some other RC-8 owners had, oil leaks etc.. but I cant seem to find anything on this model..
I know the gearbox problem was fixed in the recall by KTM, and after 14,000 k's there are no oil leaks or fluid leaks at all.. fingers crossed it stays that way.. I will know more after a few decent track sessions anyway. More completed pics coming in the next couple of days...

Re: NOT a Kawasaki- The KTM Build up - MORE New Pics...!! ;-
OK, well the build up is basically completed now..!!
Just awaiting paint, new rubber, some stickers and a bit of lockwiring and it will be ready to go. I have to get a few good track days under my belt on this one before I am certain of the gearing changes I will be making, but it seems I will be either dropping a tooth on the front, or up 2 on the rear with a longer chain to keep the rear wheel back as far as possible for stability and to try to tame the wheelie monster...
Anyway, everything has gone perfectly on this one, the pipe is so good, professionally made and fitted so well, but it is very very loud, I am not sure how I will go with such a big thumping tone, although I do have the db reducer I can fit if I feel it is a bit too much.. I will wait for the test days first...
So here are the pics.. the next ones will be all painted and stickered up..

Nice work there mate, bike looks like it is coming along well.
Have you considered this paint job?

Of the KTMs I think it looks the best.

Yes a very sexy paint scheme for sure..!!
I have my fairings in the paint shop as we speak.. but I do have a carbon guard already fitted (black) my ducktail will be all black, same as the belly pan with a black section on the side panel.. the upper is orange and the sides are orange.. the number board is black.. I have basically made it look like the 'RC8R' Superstock model.. Oh and it will have the correct 'KTM' stickers on it as well.. so I am sure it will look almost as sexy as this one..

Re: NOT a Kawasaki- The KTM Build up - MORE New Pics...!! ;-
Hi All,
Well I got the fairings back from the shop.. all good, except I have decided to make a change and get the gloss orange made into satin like the tank and front guard.. So these pics are in the gloss at the moment.. It just doesn't look right, so another coat of satin clear will fix it.. I was going to go satin in the first place but my mistake, you live and learn hey.!!
Still the finish is excellent, so an easy fix...
I am also waiting on the proper 'KTM' stickers to arrive, so the bike looks very bare at the moment, but I will post the totally finished pics when I get them on next week and the satin done as well. Also fitted the new rear sprocket today, last of the race mods... so all mods I had planned for have been done and ticked off the list.
Next thing I am tackling is a slipper clutch, and a quickshifter. I have decided to make this one a full on 'track / race bike', so sparing no expense here..
So when I finish these mods it will be the same spec as the RC8-R model before the engine size was upgraded. Slipper Clutch ordered.. more pics coming next week...
