coolant

Post by billydakid »

Gday guys,

I was just wondering, how often do you have to change your coolant? and if so what would be the best type to use? i ride a kwaka 650 2011, ive noticed silkolene sells a coolant, has anyone used it before?

cheers, just i want to do my services myself so i can get more hands on with my bike so i knnow everything is actually done, rather than get it serviced and realise the douche decided to skimp out and not do something, cheers

TBQH you will not need to change your coolant for another 2 years or so... It's probably easier to just continue running the genuine Kwaka coolant though it at the specified intervals as per the manufacturer's instructions.

UselessTrivia:
Silkolene / Fuches coolant fine if used correctly.

I recommend quality premixed coolants for convenience or careful mixing (in a clean bucket) with distilled water for concentrates as per manufacturer specs.
Coolant should be flushed and replaced every 2 - 3 years .
DO NOT mix different brands / types of coolant (If you don't know what is in your car / bike top up with distilled water ONLY and replace coolant asap if needs be.
(can turn your cooling system into a nasty engine destroying soup) !!
ALWAYS thoroughly flush out cooling system including heater core as applicable (cars) prior to changing coolant type / brand. Remember to drain the engine block as well as the radiator plus remove and flush out expansion tank.
