KSRC 'Gotta love this place' stories

Post by Blurr »

I'll start this one off.

At the start of this week I asked for a hand in getting some control tyre slicks from Monza North Rocks and asked if anybody went by this place as I am based up in Port Stephens.

Anyways Maddog contacts me and said that he drives past all the time and is happy to pick them up and bring them to EC trackday next Tuesday as I will be attending. Already I am thinking "champion"

So as the story goes I cant get hold of Monza as they have changed there number, dont list there new ones on the web (dont deal direct with the public anymore) and cant contact them quick enough by email. I had just about given up and resided to racing on some old very second hand tires for the weekend. I PM'd Chris and said not to worry and thanks for the effort. He replies " send me your number and leave it with me", so I did.

This morning Chris gives me a call with a phone number to ring for Monza. Told me that he had already contacted them for me on my behalf and said that if I order them via this number he can still pick them up. I gave the number a call but alas no luck, it was a Fax number. Again I just gave up and placed it in the 'too hard basket'.

Anyways I spoke to Maddog, thanked him and said not to worry. He rang back 5 mins later saying that he is at MOnza and that he can get them there and then, he would pay for them (consider that Maddog doesnt know me that well) and I would fix him up on Tuesday which I will. All done and dusted. How good is that. Gotta love this site.

So to sum up Maddog's effort
- agreed to pick them up
- dug up extra contact details for me
- contacted me when they werent already orgainsed rather than walking away
- arranged a set when I couldnt
- then paid for them on my behalf.

LEGEND

Ok my turn.

Had a set of wets on formula extreme classifieds. A guy contacted me and wanted them, he lives 2hrs on the other side of Phillip island to me. A 7 hour return trip.
I was at PI on the monday, this guy was going to be there on the tuesday. He deposited money into my account and I left them with Macca (thanks mate) to pass on.
Considering I was kinda cutting Maccas grass as he works for madaz. Legend.

Get a call from Wattie whilst in hospital saying I got your bike, don't worry about it; its at my place, smitty5 towed it to his house about 200km.

Organized for it to be towed back to the insurer & helped also making sure the insurer paid for my damaged gear.

Considering I met Wattie @ PITS briefly and smitty5 on a ride through wattieland once prior, that's legendary in my book.

The bike was free. It was the hire fee for the trailer that got you.

Oh and Russ I didn't read your earlier post but my new job is literally across the road from Monza. If you need shit picked up let me know.

When I bought the ZRX.

Marty (Strika for those that don't know) went and Sussed the bike out for me, negotiated the deal, met me on the way there, helped me load up, stored me and the bike at his place over night, fed me food and booze, got up got me breaky and slapped me on the arse on my way out the door, all while he was just starting the effects of his persistent health drama. The man is full of awesome and I wouldn't have the ZRX if it weren't for him.

Also many others including Hoff, Madkaw, Phil, Wattie, Russ, Frank, Glenn (Allfixed) just to name a few who have helped out with all sorts of stuff over the years.

.....and everyone else who puts up with technophobic ole cahns like me.
