I used to do it with the Rex till I realised it was flogging the bolt out. Once I replaced the bolt, I stopped doing it. If the bike is smaller, naturally a lot less stress and less chance of damage over time.....
I have seen cases where the mounting lug has broken off........its not pretty.
The sidestand is so *not* designed to do this. Maybe rarely if you need to do a quick chain-lube on a long run it won't hurt to pivot the back end up on the sidestand......but not 180deg spins every day

That is the frame bit that broke. The sidestand itself broke previously, but I didn't take any pics....

Re: Turning in the driveway...
Yeah the side stand is designed to balance the bike, which is alot less stress than bearing the bikes whole weight..id proly steer clear of its my self

Re: Turning in the driveway...
I was taught to turn the bike around in this manner by a bike mechanic, I won't mention who but he works on race bikes a lot. He claims he's been doing it for years, and that if you do it right it's not a problem.
On the one hand, I guess that's fine as he only sees a bike once in a while, so no one particular bike would be stressed in that manner very often.
On the other hand, I remember my old bike (a Honda, it was very easy to swivel), I had a close look at it and there was no load on the sidestand, no unusual twisting load anyhow. So I'm guessing it's all about the 'how'; if you do it correctly, and the bike's well-balanced on the stand then there's probably no harm. Like I said, I cannot seem to balance the ZX so I no longer do it.

Install a gantry crane system on the ceiling...
