Re: Rego Labels canned in NSW
About time the government caught up with me. I haven't had one on the bike for about 4 years.
BTW they send you a reminder in the post to rego your car about a month before it expires and so does your 3rd party insurance rip off merhcant, so unless you are in the police witness program, are away for 3 months or a complete goose you won't need a little sticker that you don't read to remind you.

Re: Rego Labels canned in NSW
I dont like them either, but how about when you borrow a mates car or a work vehicle how do you know it has reg?
Yes you can check the road authority website if you can access it, not always practical and unreg fine here is over $1k i think and I dont know if points loss comes with it.
In SA every redlight/speed camera can detect this as well as the high boom cameras set up especially for reg checks..
Maybe a small disc or sticker with the date or Robracer can make special kuda stickers we can write in the date on his teeth

Of course it will....the ACT Police have been using the technology for the reading of rego plates for about 12 months now.......it won't be long for them to follow..MickLC wrote:I wonder if the ACT will follow suit? Then I'll only have the massive sign over the Parkway to remind me that speed kills.

Exactly. No excuses for not knowing if your own car/bike is not registered. Having a memory brain-fart is no excuse !Naked Twin wrote:.......BTW they send you a reminder in the post to rego your car about a month before it expires and so does your 3rd party insurance rip off merhcant, so unless you are in the police witness program, are away for 3 months or a complete goose you won't need a little sticker that you don't read to remind you.........
Plate recognition technology is the best thing to happen down here in years. The number of fuckheads who drive around in unregistered shitheaps has plummeted, so the chances of being involved in a prang with some know who does not have insurance is far less.

Totaly agree Gos,actually you can tell the impact of this device by all the cars scattered around town and on some highways with cars parked up without number plates attached anymoreGosling1 wrote:Exactly. Re: Rego Labels canned in NSW
If you have ever had a prang with an unregistered vehicle, you know how bad it can be as far as getting any money out of the driver - basically impossible. Its even worse if someone gets injured and needs medical treatment.
I know that there has been some issues in SA apparently because getting busted without rego now costs upwards of a grand ?? Its a good incentive to keep your eyes on the rego renewals !!! I have to keep an eye on about 8 renewals every year

Re: Rego Labels canned in NSW
I don't understand how it's any different than any other bill! You pay your electricity on time without a sticker on your forehead, put you rego bill on the fridge and pay it when its due:roll:
Obviously its different for fleets (ie jonno's garage)
Also fines for no reg surely wouldn't be that big unless it over a month out?
Also I hear from a couple of police that they are no longer giving out fines for no rego! Turns out its too hard for them to prove unregd without the sticker! Cameras are obviously a different story.

Don't follow why unreg would be hard to determine.vanrootn wrote:.........Also I hear from a couple of police that they are no longer giving out fines for no rego! Turns out its too hard for them to prove unregd without the sticker! Cameras are obviously a different story.
With everything computerised as is it then maybe the most would be a 24hr delay. Wouldn't be hard to issue fine then submit for a check with RMS (or whatever you have over there) and withdraw fine if it had been paid before fine. easy peasy...
