Question bout forks

Post by Possum »

In recent days i've noticed a few seconds after coming to a complete stop (on the zed) the front lifts.
Not knowing that much bout front forks, i will have to take it in, but I wanted to know if anyone knew why?

They should lift but immediately not after two seconds. You compress the forks when you use the front brake to come to a stop and they should return immediately after the pressure is removed, (stopping with the front brake). It sounds like your rebound damping is either set way to tight or the rebound damp valve is partially plugged. At a stop bounce the front end and see if you can duplicate the problem, if you can loosen the rebound adjustment screw, (if it has one???) then try it again. It could also be a warped or dinged fork piston although not likely unless you have been in a wreck. If you have no rebound ajustment screw you might be looking at a fork overhaul. Some of you front end guru's might have more ideas. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Tried bouncing the front end and its intermittent.. worse when i brake the front end hard
Never stacked it/bingled it

Timmy the oil/seals have never been done on the zed

Had to look up this Stiction..
"Stiction (μs) is the static friction that needs to be overcome to enable relative motion of stationary objects in contact"

Hmm might be onto something there.. but why does this happen? just general wear and tear?

You can induce a heap of stichion by tightening the front axle from just one side. Slack off the axle, bounce it around a bit, then tighten it again using a hex key on both ends and see if its better.
