I want a new bike

Post by Gumby »

I want to get a new bike. The Kawasaki 650 isnt doing it for me no more. I think a zx10r or gsxr1000 next. Only like just over a year till I pay my bike off. Which one should I get ppl. Hopefully my payments for the ssv don't get in the way.

$200 a week will get you a newie.

When you get your full license take them all for a ride and buy the one that suits your budget and feel

A few questions before answers
1) have you ridden a bike with clip ons, and I mean a decent ride, like 300+ klms. A lot who ride them do so with straight arms
2) have you ridden a 1000 for a few klms (I know it isn't legal but that is not the question) Sometimes we want for something we will never need
3) Why Suzuki and Kwak and why not Honda or Yamaha. If you aren't aligned to one brand (like me why not consider all)

On a personal note, never borrow money for something you aren't going to make money with. If you wait a year you will have over $10k at $200+ per week, with a trade in you will be at $14K which will get you a year old 1000. Don't get caught up in the hype of buying a new bike, that is what the marketing department wants and fuck them

Have to agree with all the above, I ride both a naked and a supersports, anything over 200k's on the ZX6R is a bloody killer on the back, wrists and arms, the old ZR7 though can comfortably do 500k's and still feel fresh, but horses for courses, try them all, IMHO having had the opportunity to ride the new ZX10R's, GSXR1000, R1 and a new CB1000RR, the ZX is the quickest and most race orientated, with the most goodies on her, the Yammie would be the next best then the suzi and lastly the Honda which just felt dated and slow. You've got a year so take your time and try them all, I'd also look at the Versys 1000, very sweet ride!

in the meantime do a training course. :D unless you already ride like Casey, you'll get a bit more cornering speed and it will be fun again. :D
That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba.... Hunter S. Thompson.

I rode from Melbourne to Newcastle straight on my ZX6RR and didnt feel awesopme when I got home, but was ok enough to still go straight into town where we drank till they kicked us out, so sore back, wrist or arms, the main area I felt it was the abs.

I would be wary of using the heart over the head. They do look good though and it about how you feel when riding the bike
