How to remove badges
As the topic says. I'm looking to take the badges off the side panels of the 550 and thought I'd all if any one knows the proper technique before I had a crack.

I plan on living forever..............so far so good!!

Re: How to remove badges
those washer looking things are clips, wd40 them and get 2 small screwdrivers. place on opposite sides of washers and pry upward, you will need to use a small wedge to place under screwdrivers.
Note that some are screwed on too so double check that first with a pair of pliers turning anti clockwise

Re: How to remove badges
I tap the stick bit on the back of the badge gently with a rubber mallet until the circlip comes off. You could use a normal hammer, carefully. I find with the screwdriver method it bends the circlips so that they can't be reused.

yep - that is the best way. Be careful with the small retaining clips they can be re-used if they are still straight.bonester wrote:.....I tap the stick bit on the back of the badge gently with a rubber mallet until the circlip comes off. If you do stuff them though its not all bad news. You can use some Marine silastic - the adhesive-sealant stuff - just a small blob over the 'peg' before you fit the badge back onto the sidecover, and another small blob on the inside of the sidecover smeared over the peg about the size of a 5c piece will hold the badge just fine.

Be very careful some badges are harder to remove than others.
