NON ACID MAG WHEEL CLEANING/BREAK DUST REMOVAL STUFF

Post by rooster »

Any recommednations as to what is good to use that isn't corrosive for getting and keeping the break dust off wheels and the wheels looking good, need this for the car but if applicable to the bike then a bonus.
If life is like a box of chocolates, why do I always get the laxettes?

WD40 is a petrolium based product containing mild solvents I wouldn't leave it on paintwork for too long

NON ACID MAG WHEEL CLEANING/BREAK DUST REMOVAL STUFF

Silicone spray makes it easy to wipe off.
Apply when wheels are clean, when they get dusty, it wipes away.

I picked up a set of wheels for Chris's Car yesterday and the bloke said the best thing is Window cleaner ie Windex etc. They are Satin Black rims so will mark quite easily. As Wattie said as well Silicone spray will be pretty effective too I reckon.

Shit aye, that's got solvents in it as well, the Alcohol in windex is ok for paint but what else is in it?

Silicone spray sounds good :D

CT18 works on my white wheels.

I wash my bikes and cars with it all the time. Trick to keeping wheels looking good, is cleaning them frequently. For really dificult to remove spots like tar, use prepwash.

I used silvo from memory when I used to cloean the wheels on the ZX9 very infrequently.

Mr Sheene. It has a bit of silicon in it, so any dust build-up after application will wipe off really easily.

You can only keep the brake dust off the wheels if you don't drive it mate  front wheels will always have traces of brake dust on them......
