Recall:zx10r (2008-2011) and zx6r (2009-2012)

Post by pittster »

As seen on ZX10r.net

Can anyone elaborate on this I bought mine second hand so I won't get any letter's from the dealer also mines an 08 with 39,000km on it, you would think the rectifier would of popped by now? Original battery also.

UPDATE USEFUL INFORMATION:

BargainBike added Vin numbers:

"Heres the VIN range and models that are affected in this Saftey recall, Please contact you Local Dealer and Have this Arranged to be Replaced

Eligible Units for Repair

Model - ZX1000E8F, ZX1000E9F - Vin Range - JKAZXCE1__A000001 ~ JKAZXCE1__A025542

Model - ZX1000FAF - Vin Range - JKAZXCF1__A000001 ~ JKAZXCF1__A003384

Model - ZX600R9f, ZX600RAF, ZX600RBF, ZX600RCF - Vin Range - JKAZX4R1__A000001 ~ JKAZX4R1__A033753"

Also Greenmeanie added: (This is also relevant for people that have dedicated track bikes)

"On the Kawasaki Australia website there is a contact page & you can fill out an enquiry form with your details( name, address, VIN etc) & request a recall letter. They will then send you an email with an attachment letter for you to print out & take to your dealer. They will update their records with the information you provide them.

There is a recall reference no on the letter that the dealer requires along with your model no & VIN no so they can put the order in."

I think the first question that should be asked to dealers/kwaka Australia, is whether the rectifier/regulator issue is also related to aussie imports. I dont think local dealers will act on interweb info without notification from kwaka australia.

I've fired off an email seeking clarification on the issue, will update when I recieved a responce.

Nothing listed here:

Can't hurt to send kawasaki australia an email. I also bought my Gen 3 used so if there was a recall i wouldn't receive a letter either.

Guys if you want notifications from kawasaki Australia and have the log book, at the back of the book is the "subsequent owner registration card", fill that in and post it to:

Replied Paid 27
Kawasaki Motors Ptd Ltd
Technical Services Department
Locked Bag 24
Rydalmere NSW 1701

There ya go free postage again :kuda:

Apparently relating to a faulty regulator/rectifier.

Yeah i'll probably give it a week then ring richard @ Crazy Dogs Kawasaki. I reckon if this was a issue(reg/rec) on our bikes we would have known about it by now. ;)

Fair enough.. I bought my 09zx6r about 4 months ago so I don't know the past history of it but it seems to be ok ATM.... I guess if the dealerships send out recall notices the guy I bought mine off will get the recall haha.... I'll just play it by ear and see what happens.... Cheers all....

Went into flywheels, they are replacing regulator/rectifier under recall; mine will be changed when I take it in for a service.

Rang Crazy Dogs Kawasaki today...yep there is a recall but they need the letter from Kawasaki Australia to do the work. As i'm the 2nd owner i won't receive a letter so i've sent kawasaki australia a request to send out a letter. Now it is just a waiting game. My work mate has a 2010 ZX10R(bought new) & hasn't received a letter yet.

I have an 09 ZX10 that i had to replace the regulator on late last year! It's definitley an issue with the model. A mate of mine had the same problem :(
I bought mine second hand.....i wonder if Kawasaki will refund me the $700 i spent getting the bastard fixed?

Kawasaki must have become more strict about it. When I had some work done under a recall the dealer just called them with the VIN and all was organised, no letter required, and my bike was a repairable write-off  I wouldn't be complacent about this kind of thing, if you can get it fixed as part of the recall asap.
