I've finally got round to pulling the motor out of my ZXR and have bought an engine stand to mount it's out of the frame. The stand I've got is for a car engine and as such the mounting points aren't correct. I can fabricate a mount to suit my motor but I'm unsure if the two rear mounting points on the crank cases are strong enough alone to hold the weihgt of the engine or if I'll need to build and extra support to hold thr front of the engine as I'm intending on removing the head to change the gasket and install a heli-coil amongst other things.
Any advice would be appreciated as I'd rather my next post not be "FOR SALE: ZXR750 motor internals - crank cases broken "!

yep - thats what you want. I have often though about knocking up a car-motor type stand for the old zeddie motors - but just to lift them from the floor to the bench - even a gorilla gets a crook back when they get old.

Whereabouts are you, mate ? I have a small engine stand specifically for a ZXR that you can borrow, as long as you pick it up and drop it back.
Cheers,
