I was riding down the old road on saturday afternoon on my recently acquired Buell xb9r
I noticed a funny noise coming from down low. Within a few kilometres this noise had turned
into a full blow high pitched metal on metal scraping sound. The bike lost power and wouldnt even idle.
I tried to restart it and it sounds horrid. It will barely idle. It sounds like something has let go
in the general crank/flywheel area.
Im still not sure who to get to look at it this problem. My first choice is allfixed. But with buell
being buell and the parts availability, i was looking at trailering it out to blacktown harley davidson.
Ultimately I dont see this being a cheap fix in anyway. This lead me to start looking at Ebay USA.
Ive found several xb9r motors for under 1000 USD. My question is, how much does it generally cost
to get a donk sent to Sydney? I think ive read of others doing this with various kwaka engines.
I wouldnt even know where to start.
Im already braced for the ridicule and the "I told you so's" about buying a buell

Have a good think about buying unseen and untested from the states. That's not to say you can't get a good buy...

Don't do it.
Simply for the head Fark alone or paying customs officers, customs agent, import agents and tax. Tack on AT LEAST $700 to any price given for these import costs.
Then as above, if the engine is not as described there is fark all you can do.

Re: Getting an engine sent from the US
Yep. I'd never do it again. It cost me 1000 for the engine, 400 freight and 700 in customs shit, quarrantine and GST.....and I end up with a shit motor. I could've got a local one for 3000. Take it to the Harley dudes at Blacktown
