New rear rubber need advice

Evening all,

In the words of Phil, my Rear tyer is rooted.

Need advice on what is a good turing/ twisties tyer. Need really sticky as I ride like a big Poof.

Also currently have a 180/55 ZR17 (73W) on a ZX9R 1995, can I put a bigger tyer size on it???

Any suggestions on where to purchase it from and get it fitted. anywhere in Sydney-Penrith area would be great...will travel to save some $$$$$

Q2s, power pures, pirelli diablos, pilot roads, take your pick. They stock other tyres than shown there at similarly low prices which includes fitting.

190 should fit, stock = 180 it's generally accepted you can go +/- 10

A 190 will make it steer like a pig. The rims too narrow. I sold these brand new and had many tossers ask me to put 190's on. I always advised against, but took there money if they still wanted it. But the guys who knew, ran 180's!

What is it with all the tossers wanting wider tyres??? It won't make you ride any faster???

As for which tyre, you've admitted you can't ride, so it won't matter. Go buy some Cheng shins or some other cheapo tyre.

I have schinkos on at the moment and quite happy with them, no one seems to have them on the web sites.

Metzler M5s or even M3s,dunlop roadsmarts,or micellin pilot roads.Q2s seem to be a good tyre but from the little use i have put on mine they wont last long,infact i recon a set of bridestone 003s will out last the q2s.

If you can find the pilot 2cts are worth a look. Duel compound, so good edge grip and reasonable centre wear. Wet grip is good too

Yeah stick to a 180. I'm a Bridgestone fan, so I would suggest a BT016 if you are after a more sport orientated tyre for the Nasho runs, but if you do a bit of commuting or pillion with the misses, I would suggest the BT023.

If you only want the one one tyre, then probably do a bit of shopping around at a few local dealers and get the best retail price you can. While you shop around, also ask them if they will, and how much to fit your own tyre...

Then if you can get a few people together or get a couple of sets yourself, you will save heaps here, but also factor in postage (cost me $90 7 tyres) and getting them fitted here in Aus

Craig Whites ok, if you can go Thursday nights to Ingleburn, only time he is open and if he is busy you could wait a while. Make sure you get a price off him on the phone. When he gives you a different price when you get there, pick the cheapest, either say nothing or say "but you told me... on the phone"

I've been really happy with my pilot road 3's. Admittedly I don't ask a lot out of my tyres, but they have been great in the wet, have been awesome in the twisties for my (small) riding ability and.... well my rear tyre has some 24,000km on it and it's not worn out yet (though starting to get close)

pilot road 2 or 3 will last u a long time and sticky enough to get knee down great tyres

Up here Bridgies get destroyed real quick by our heat, PR3's seem to be the best all rounder, good grip, reasonable life and great in the wet!
