Starter motor?

Post by dbutlin »

Could someone please help?
Pretty sure i have a starter problem. When i hit the starter botton i get a ticking or buzzing noise coming from the fuse box under the seat. And the starter is not turning over. Bike is a ZZR1100D1 It has been sitting for about 4 weeks (won't stop Raining).
Can the starter be repaired?
i have tried tapping it with socket extension.
Cheers Daniel

Start with the battery. If that is fully charged move to the next step.

Doesnt mean its fine. Got a multimeter? If so try and turn it over and see what voltage it says.

Otherwise on a zx6 I had it was a similar issue. A hill assisted clutch start turned her over as it seemed it had compression lock up and from then on it started first go with the starter. Try this too :)

Battery could of dropped a cell. Had that happen to a work ute last week. All of a sudden it just wouldn't start. Couldn't jump start it.

Thanks Guys, i'll try the multimeter tomorrow. It's a pain in arse having to pull the thing to bits whenever you need access to the battery.
