Bike Accident Last Night - Updated

A 4wd changed lanes halfway through the intersection of mountain highway and boronia rd without looking and punted me into the median strip. Bikes stuffed from hitting the kerb. Gears stuffed from sliding along the road. Helmets stuffed from head butting the traffic light. I'm very bruised but otherwise OK. Ankles swelled up and I couldn't walk for a few days though. Driver stopped and another guy that stopped to help gave his name as a witness. Have insurance so just have to work through the process.

Good on ya. I got cleaned up a bit over a week ago and it made a huge difference that people stopped and helped.

Sorry to hear dilligaf. Hope the recovery and insurance claim goes well.

insurance rang today to say its all sorted! bike was written off and all my gear replaced. I'm not at fault. had agreed value so the amount is OKish.
pain in the arse to have to find a new bike. might be a street triple r.

Thats what gives me the shits is when people step in to a situation after not witnessing a single thing and then throwing there 2 cents in just for a bit of attention. The guy was very lucky that you were there to help and as a witness.

And as for you dilligaf, look on the bright side, you get a new bike

Had a sit down interview with Allianz today re: the bike incident.

Apparently the driver has claimed he was stationary and hadnt crossed the solid white line, and the bike was riding reckless, not seen him and run into the side of his car
Seriously!
- Advised if that was the case the bike would have been in full view
- The bike would have hit the front of the car not the passenger side
- AND there was no way the bike could have crossed lanes because there was a concrete median strip

The bike wasnt riding reckless, he had just turned from stationary at the lights
The 5min interview turned into 40minutes
At the end Inspector said he would get all his medical bills overed. Bike was written off.

Rider well.. and bleeding it for all its worth

On the way home tonight a Taxi almost cleaned me up in the same spot

Clearly the two other chicks have been watching the gospel accordihng to the TAC, ie motorbike accident, must be motorbike riders fault and of course he must have been speeding/stunting/insert inappropriate behavoiur here. Given the clobber the bloke was wearing probably lucky to come out in relatively good nick

For those that don't know about it, there is mob called ASMA that run accident scene management courses for motorcyclists, well worth keeping an eye out for courses near you as the TAC, Ulysses and various other road bodies as well as general motorcycle clubs have been hosting quite a few of these courses latetly, to the point where some only cost $20 as they were funded by Barwon Roadsafe for instnace or Ulysses amongst others.

Great work Poss. All to easy for insurance to accept the easy way out and blame the anti-social biker.

Surely a lot of what you pointed out should have been in the cops report and if the insurance co had done any work they would have been able to see it too.
