Computer Guru's ??

Post by Jennysc »

My computer at home just decided one day to run the internet slow as a wet week.

It was working fine, opening up websites within seconds, then one day it stopped, takes minutes just to open up google.

Does the amount of space I've used on my C drive impact this ?

Where can I look to see what might be causing the internet speed.

Thanks, Jenny

Start by resetting your modem/ router see if that helps and go from there!

Is your phone line acting as normal? Ie no crackling noises etc?

Also are you connected via WiFi or cable - ethernet?

We are using WiFi, that connects up fine.

The kids & my work laptop work fine, it's just the main computer that is playing up. Maybe it's getting old and I need a faster one with more memory ?

Hmmm interesting, if it was me I would try connecting it via cable if easy enough, try ruling things out one by one. Wouldn't think a full c drive would impact on internet speed

vanrootn, My phone connection does this... I can't connect to the net and the DSL light flashes on the ADSL thingy.
To fix it, I take the phone off the hook, I get 30 seconds of crackling and squealing, then a clear dial tone and It's all good again.
Is something about to die on me ????

Sorry for the Hijack jenny.....

Take the filter off the modem line. unless you split a phone there and have a splitter on it?
