Got to rant

Post by Hawksam »

:D sorry but I need to have a rant.
Riding home from work tonight I see someone on a naked coming the other direction wearing a tee shirt shorts and sneakers. Oh I shouldn't forget he at least had gloves on.
Mind you I only have to ride 20 km but I put all my safety gear on.

Do people think they are invincible and that they will never have an accident?

Not sure but that's all I wanted to say. :kuda:

Mate, while a lot of us like to gear-up before a ride, there are many that don't...personal choice.

Like a lot of other decisions in life we shouldn't stress about what others do. I often see riders in shorts and tshirt out near Wagga in 110km zone. I just give a short "hope he makes it OK" and continue on my way.

I love to squid on a hot summers day, T-Shirt, shorts and joggers. The wind blowing under my shirt........ hmmm....
Nothing worse than pulling up at the pub all sweaty in full leathers.

If you ride aggressively while squidding its a recipe for
Disaster..i squid up to shops sometimes, but ride like a nanna..

Remember even if someone hits you and its their fault, its still your fault as the motorcyclist for getting into that position in the first place..this is my philosophy while squidding..

Count me in too. I just ride as slow as a 250. ;)

If I intend to ride any distance or with anything more than the speed of the dead, on goes all the gear.

I dont care what other people do,but do wonder the difference between a mesh jacket with heapes of ventilation and a tshirt.Theres not a lot ;) Theres plenty of good summer gloves, jackets etc ,i sometimes if its really hot and im going for a run in the hills will reluctently wear a mesh jacket but with a back protestor and leather everywhere else thats as squid as i get ;)

Wait for a really hot day then go and lie on the black seal of the road in t shirt and shorts and see how long you can stand it, then imagine lying there unable to move until an ambulance gets to you with half your skin missing  I'll wear full protective gear all the time thanks ;)

Well put mate :) :) i very rarely not wear most of my gear, and yer it would be great to do it, wind down ur front ect....
Back when i was living in MT ISA as a young fella, it was a standing joke with my mates when we went riding, they would say hang on, we got to wait for davo to get his gear on.... that just the way i am, and it got farrkin hot up there....
But i do beleive in each to their own......

I gear up even going down the road to put petrol in the bike, bitumen is bitumen, doesn't matter how far I ride I gear up, the road is full of wankers who don't understand bikes...

I squid when it's a social ride on a hot day. But I always gear up with good summer protective wear which still breaths. It's not as good as leathers, but life is all about compromises. Here is my hot weather gear.

Bali Singlet -15+ years old and is thin, so tends to be the one which gives best airflow, but still gives good protection from the sun.

Thailand Camo cargo shorts -has lots of secure pockets to stick ya smokes, weed, speed, coke, wallet and phone.

Teva Sandals -these are awesome, full sole like a runner, but lots of airflow over the top. Lots of toe protection for changing gears.

Aldi Bicycle gloves -Lots of airflow, still leave your finger free to dial your mobile at the lights and offer good grip to the phone body.

Another summer crowd pleaser is only available to those who own a GSX1400 or a ZRX1200. Both these machines have well thought out storage bins. Both can accommodate over half a dozen cans of VB and some ice, with a drain hole to drain off the water as it melts to ensure no need for esky foam ;)

That's how I roll.

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
