Caltex vortex

Post by Cwidova »

Is it any good to run in the bike? I always used Mobil or Bp, but Mobil is now 7/11 and I am not too sure about the fuel, and I haven't got a convenient Bp anymore. I do have a Caltex that is convenient but haven't really heard if their fuel is any good!!

I use Caltex Vortex in my bike all the time. Never had a problem with it.

Much the same as any of the brands.

I also use 95 Vortex in my bike and my Subaru. Never had an issue with Caltex but agree re the 7\11 fuel....questionable.

Don't know if its the same over there but Mobil here has been re branded as "on the run"... I have read they are required to sell Mobil fuels for a year or two still...

Can anyone explain the difference in refining process so as to say which fuel is better....? I've used em all and cant tell the diff, although I mainly use shell as that's the most convenient for me..

I would have thought it would have more to do with the condition of the tanks in the servo itself and/or integrity of the station operator?

For 91 & 95 it's all generic base fuel with each companies own blend of additives. I can't speak for any other company, but BP blend their own 98 which doesn't use the generic base fuel.

As for BP & Caltex. BP do not own Caltex, but do own Castrol.

Here in melbourne i beleive they share the same refinery at times, but i beleive thats for 91ron, and at times they mix, so ive been told by tanker driver's..... i use vortex 98 only in my track bike, most times in the 7 as well, but not so fussy with that. reason i only use vortex in the 10 is ive never had fuel prob's in 4 years, so why change???
Heard bad stories about shell 98, and those stories have been going around for years, its why they changed the name... and most bike mechanic's say the same thing about it...
