didnt the E get the better brakes too?Strika wrote:2nd gear can be a little fragile on C (99) models. If you can find an E model in the budget, they are a little better bike.
Yep, great bike the 9.Strika wrote:If the C had 6 piston's then it had the same. I think it was an E2 that got the brake upgrade to the much better stoppers, like Dave3 had. The 6 piston tokicos are OK, but they have a very soft feel. I don't mind though. Being as ham fisted as I am, good brakes would probably sit me on my arse.![]()
I think the frames and swingarms were a little different from C to E also, as was fairings etc., Later E's had no mirror bracket like C's and early E's had also.
But, at the end of the day we are splitting hairs, as it doesn't matter too much C or E, Ya gotta Luv a 9

There were a few - and I mean very few - bikes that had gearbox problems. If it was to have a problem I reckon it would have happened by nowMine had 134K on it when it was taken out by the chinaman, but Mal has got up near - if not over - 200K on one of his. He's got several, so has John (Laidback).
Everyone that I know who has had one for any period of time says what abloody good bike they were, and I have to agree.
There are a lot for salke most of the timeand finding a good one shouldnt be to hard.
Good luck
Plenty of people buy bikes and dont ride them. A quick ride of the bike in question should tell you if there is anything sus. Take someone who knows a bit about bikes as well, cant hurtHawksam wrote:Phil wrote:Yep, great bike the 9.Strika wrote:If the C had 6 piston's then it had the same. the guy bought it from a dealer he has only done 1400 km on it, he has upgraded.
should I be concerned that he hasnt had it for long and there may be problems with it?

Although the fangs havent come out in such a genteel post as this, 9 owners are fanatics,
True, drooling at the corners of their mouths NUTS
Just Diss a ZX9 and watch what happens.![]()
There were only minor differences between a C1 (98) and a C2 (99) was the front rotors are slightly thicker (think it was 0.5mm)
C2 Carbs were a little different as the C1's had issues on some that caused them to run really rough in cold weather, but this was only noticed by dickheads who would ride their bikes to places like tintaldra in July and wonder why it wouldnt work in the morning with an inch of frost on the thing, like me.
Oh, Yeah, the C2's had poxy Graphics (watch me get hosed for that comment)
Usual Warnings will apply, check the servicing, make sure it hasnt been extensively tar surfed, (8 bolts drops the side panels off so you can inspect the frame spars
I put 96 thousand on mine in 3 years and not once did it leave me on the side of the road, and a sizeable chunk of that was spent at eastern creek.
In Short, my C models (I had 2, first only lasted 7 days before Achmed the Awful backed over it) are the benchmark bikes in my life, to the point ive just bought another one to fix up, they are also hideously under rated as a sports bike, and looked down upon by the Power Rangers Leather Brigade.
Good call Mal. Top bike that, E2 in the best colour apart from the 98 Bluez900/zx9 wrote:Billy had his 9 for sale here .not sure if its still for sale send him a pm.It is in vic but im sure it would be a good bike as hes a little anal with his bikes
