No keys for '06 ZX 12

A mate of mine bought a 2006 model ZX12 from the auctions today & it was sposed to come with a key but the bozos claim they lost it, obviously the bike is worth less $$ without a key so what he needs to know is what's involved in getting the thing running.
He's already scoured US Ebay but there's nothing listed for post '05 models, can a Kwaka dealer sort something out with a key or does he need to replace the ignition barrel, ECU, loom, whatever?
Alternatively, can an earlier model ECU & ignition barrel be retrofitted?
He needs to know ASAP so he has some comeback with the auction mob.

with no key at all, your pretty screwed.

you can get a similar model ecu and key barrel from the states, but the older model is completely different ecu.

not easy, and not cheap. also will need to get into the tank somehow to remove the cap. cant be done while its locked.

Tell the auction people that it was not as advertised and u dont want it,even though its an auction the new consumer laws should be enough to get your money back.
