Ute driver crams in 12 passengers
January 8, 2012 - 9:51AM

A man with a suspended licence has been caught driving an unregistered ute crammed with 12 passengers in Melbourne's north-east.
The 34-year-old man from Monbulk had his Holden ute impounded after police saw him driving erratically along Brunswick Street in Fitzroy before 2am today.

Police pulled him over and discovered nine people crammed in the back of the ute, along with a passenger in the front seat.
Police believe two other people jumped out of the ute and ran away.

The driver, who is currently suspended, told police they had overreacted because no one was hurt. ...hehe give him one for invention

His ute will be impounded for 30 days and he is expected to be charged on summons with conduct endangering life, driving with unrestrained passengers, driving an unregistered vehicle and other traffic-related offences.

Smitty, you are becoming a big wanker in your old age mate. Fair dinkum, you winge about every little thing people do on bikes and now in cars. Most of which is just silly stuff that we have all done and often still do. I guess the issue is, people with attitudes similar to you are the ones making the laws....

I am disliking more and more this antiseptic society being created to ensure we all don't hurt ourselves. It farking stinks. Glad i've only got another 30 or so years to put up with it.

...sorry Marty call me what you like but I disagree with you

this goose was not a pimply 18yo ...but a 34 yo with a suspended licence (ie has been a naughty boy before)
in an unregistered vehicle (and I would bet probably because its unroadworthy)

yeah I have 4 or 5 in the back bumping around in the back on mate's farm in the past ...but never stupid enough to do it on the road
unlike this goose. 12 people in a ute on a public road at any time day or night ...is an act of selfish mindless stupidity
hence he is definitely a candidate for Goose of the Week

oh...and if you don't like the law get it changed for something better :kuda:

Yer the safety police, as in goverment wanker's, and throw in the god suits as well, do get a lot carried away...
Fuck i can remember one new year eve back home in roma in 79 where the cops let us have 5min at midnight, to do out burnouts, donuts in the main drag, and we were all pissed, but if we were still playin up after the 5min so be it, fair enough.... hell my mate allen even stood in the main street and pumped several rounds in the air with his pump action shotgun.... with the cops supervising :D :D

Mate, you just proved my point. THAT is exactly the attitude I am talking about!

The 12 people in the back had a choice. He didn't force them I am sure. The suspended licence might have been an error...or a mistake in which day he got it back. Or he may have lost it for points, which is a common thing these days with over policing of the revenue applicable offences. The ute may have been someone else and he may not have known it was unregistered. All your comments are just as mine are in terms of the facts...speculation. So how can you call the guy a goose. What's the difference between doing on the farm and doing it on a road? Both have the same ability to cause an injury. Selfless stupidity you call it. Perhaps it's the people in the back who were selfish. Maybe they were too tight to spring for a cab and the guy helped them out.

As for changing the law, it's not something that either you or I have the ability to change. But, it's not the law that I am concerned about, it's the "spirit" in which it was written and the opposite "spirit" in the way it is enforced that pisses me off.

Following your logic, doing 200kph on a safe stretch of country back road with clear visibility and no entrances either side is still being a goose. Mate, admit it or not, but you are becoming a fucking nancy boy in your old age. You admit you did this sort of stuff in your youth and yet you criticise others who do it. Fucking hypocrite you are. Go get a life!

I've got mixed thoughts on it. Suffice to say his unregistered car and lack of license doesn't help his cause!! Certainly if alcohol was involved he deserves whatever he gets.

But I'm not even old and I can remember having 6 blokes in the back of the pano

I believe part of the reason we have so many young people dying on the road is due to the fact were constantly getting hammered about speed killing which we all no is incorrect and were treating these kids like numpties telling them it's more important to be driving at the exact speed limit than to be in control of their car and knowing what to do in an emergency situation.

We should be giving them an empty airfield on a fri and sat night to learn some skills. But that wont happen as we're so built up land is worth too much to developers.

Once again everyone is chosing to criticize the police for their actions with out even knowing the full details of the incident. Once again the media only post what's interesting.

This bloke MAY have been attempting to take a ute load of injured mates to hospital. He MAY have been at a party where the stage has collapsed, and although he was the unlicensed at the time, he was the only sober and capable person that could drive and the ute was the perfect vessel to transport his injured bleeding friends. Doubtful, but possible.

Then again.....

This bloke MAY be a serial offending driver that has a simple and ongoing disrespect for other peoples safety. He MAY have a driving history to prove it.....a very extensive history......that may be reflected in him having one of the most outrageous collection of demerit points ever seen.....a history that has done nothing but continually put the public's lives at risk. Doubtful, but possible.

Take from this what you will.

Dutchy, my comment about overpolicing was a more general comment and not pointed at this event. I doubt the officer had much choice. I'm not saying he shouldn't have been issued with an infringement notice or whatever was appropriate. What I am criticising, is this attitude that is anyone doing anything more than me is wrong and there should be laws against it with tougher penalties and blah blah blah. Also that if you did similar in your yoof, how the fuck can you criticise people today??? hypocritical IMNSHO.

Fair enough. The only point I'm making is the same point I nearly always make when I comment on one of these "blah blah blah caught by police doing blah blah blah.

How can we judge the actions of the "accused" or the police when we don't have all the information.

Or maybe I should join the great many (thankfully not on this forum) and just blindly defend the bloke with outdated examples of how i used to do exactly the same thing with out killing any one even though the example I give, although similar in theme, will be set in a totally different environment and set of circumstances.

I will then finalise my post with the phrase "fuck da police", and an emoticon giving the single finger salute
