Yet another zx-12 Tyre thread..

Post by Supafrog »

Currently have michellin HP-X on front... well .. whats left of it.....

and need to replace...

Can't locate michelins in any stores this side of the world.... so... will be replacing front and back.. (and going 190/55 rear at same time)

Given lack of knowldge and limited places that will book in an asap tyre change....

What are Dunlop Qualifiers like? am i likely to chew them quickly on the 12?

.. and if these are too soft.. what dunlop set should i actually try and get the shop to source?

Q3's are pretty good from all accounts ? Haven't tried these myself, but a long-time Dunlop fan.... :kuda:

I think Gos means pilot roads 3s ?? i am not aware of a qualifier 3 dunlop
I personally dont mind dunlop roadsmarts for a mixed tyre.

It would help to know what type of riding you do.

If you just ride the twisties, then get a sport tyre, if you just commute then a long lasting touring tyre, a bit of both, then a sport touring tyre. At the end of the day, rubber is rubber when it comes to the well known leading manufacturers and they are really only separated by our individual preference. Sounds like your a Michy or Dunlop fan, so I would go with either one and go with the tyre that suits your riding.

I'm a Bridgy fan and have the BT023's (sport tourer tyre) on the 14, they handle the twisties really well and also get good mileage when i'm two up with the misses. HTH

I like the power pures, but admittedly it's due to the weight primarily.

A set of power pures is a hell of a lot cheaper than a set of forged magnesium or BST rims ;)

My bad. should have explained better.

I'm a touring kind of person(1 or 2 up) .. My preference would be towards a pilot road 2 (was hoping to try the 3's but can't source). so looking for mileage from tyre, but am told not available and i need tyres now :(

Was recommended the Q2 as a replacement set; but i will need to replace both tyres and really am after feedback before forking out the dollars :(

Roadsmarts are a better option than qualifier2s for your type of riding. They will certainly last longer.

Thanks guys!

I've managed to settle on a compromise...

Just replacing the front HPX with a road 2ct,, it's getting too hard...

and i'll get a new matching set when the rear is more worn :)

Ended up putting a pilot road 3 on the rear yesterday (190/55) so lets see how long it lasts ;)
