SAPOL budget on 100M in fine revenue for 2012

POLICE expect to rake in more than $100 million in fines in the year ending June 30, 2012.
How can you budget on INCREASED fines (ie. more people doing the wrong thing) when its your job to reduce people performing illegal actions??
So if the police actually deterred ALL people from speeding etc. - police officers would all be fired for failing to meet KPI's?!

Yep doubt it - hence they are in the CBD pennypinching people for J-walking and feeding pigeons!
I don’t care how liberated this world becomes – a man will always be judged by the amount of alcohol he can consume – and a woman will be impressed, whether she likes it or not.

If you actually chose to read the entire article, you'd find that less people were fined last year, when compared to the years prior, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was even less this year. The increase in revenue is because the cost of fines has gone up. I actually think the cost of fines is ridiculous. $312 for 10 km/h over!!

And it's council officers handing out fines for feeding the birds.

No mate, in certain council areas in Adelaide, it's a by law that you cannot feed the birds. Strange but true.

not as bad as the bylaws planned to be introduced in the Warburton shire. No public singing, no use of childrens toy vehicles in public. Just one more rule and we will all be safe.
