Anyone been to Seoul?
I'm having a couple of days stopover there at the end of April next year and I'm looking for ideas on things to see and do, anyone?

Last time I was there it was nothing but bars and whore houses. Of course that was 1966. Probably a bit different now. My god, it's afternoon and I haven't had a Jim yet. Cheers.

Yeah my old man was over there with the New Zealand army as well, he was in transport though so no combat for him.

We were on R & R from Vietnam and really did not care much about anything but the bars and whores. My niece and nephew are from Korea and go back about every year. I will call one of them and get you some info. Cheers!!!

Reminds me of the Hamburg towers question to a pilot.....
Q. Haven't you been to Hamburg before?
A. Yeah, twice in 1944 but I didn't stop!

Re: Anyone been to Seoul?
I have tried to contact my nephew from Korea for several days and have had no response. I'm sorry!!! You will no doubt have a good time. I have been following your trip agenda and am very envious of your travel plans.ducati_paul wrote:I'm having a couple of days stopover there at the end of April next year and I'm looking for ideas on things to see and do, anyone?
If I can contact him at a later date I will send you an e-mail via this site.
That side of my family are a bunch of pricks, (or maybe I am). They have never forgiven me for calling Joe Smith, (founder of the Mormon fantasy), a whoremongoring pedifile. Cheers!

It's a while since I was there but there is an historical village that has houses and food from through the ages that was interesting and the Turtle-ship museum. Turtle ship was a shallow draft armoured wooden sailing vessel totally enclosed which skimmed across the waters to hit the invading Japanese navy, then lured them into the shallows and annihilated them when they went aground. Kim Chee is a pickled cabbage that they serve with everything and there's an ancient eel dish that's quite nice if you're into Asian food and is served at the village.
On top of that, they had really weird department stores with ice skating rinks and ski slopes on their top floors - Disneyland at Myers???
Smoke and drink a lot in bars is also very Korean. Wives walk behind but control the money and give hubby his allowance - bit like my house really.
You'll have lots of experiences if you want to be adventurous. Internet will give you lots of up to date ideas -e.g. tripadvisor etc.
Have fun!
