this is my only problem at the moment is sorting out gearing
im running a stock setup in sprockets but as im hitting anything from 40-70 on average the front wheel is lifting causing me to back off slightly or tap the rear brake to plant her nose down then the shift into second picks her up again briefly and a little floating as i hit third gear but this isnt what youd call the sort of riding most people do when commuting
which is causing me to not hit the throttle too hard to try and keep her down or be throwing my weight over the tank as i feel the suspension start to lift.....

this is whats making me wonder how dropping a tooth on the front is going to affect it im assuming the change wont be that noticeable but still a slight concern

as im willing to loose some of the "top end" speed due to not hitting the red in 6th that often maybe 3-4times a month to pick up some acceleration but will be interested in how you find changing the sprockets how much difference it does actually make

You definitely will notice a change in acceleration by dropping one tooth at the front - and if you are having problems now with an 18-tooth front - these will only be magnified by shortening the gearing 1 tooth at the front.

Sounds to me like you may need some suspension work to control the wheelies? If your rear spring is getting sacked out a bit, it will compress more than it should under hard acceleration and this will accentuate any wheelie action. Probably time to get the shock checked out and either set up properly with a better spring and internal damping mods, or replaced altogether with a WP / Penske / Wilburs etc.

Never had that problem on stock, or bolt-on, not even close. With the full system mine is trying to lift now too though.

I did get the suspension setup but I fear I need stiffer springs or a hardcore diet. Guess I'll try for the diet first, bit cheaper.

I am going to swap out the front to a 17 on Monday, should be interesting. And I have the 47 rear to play with also.

ok yeah ive only got a bolt on muffler
k&ns advanced timing and reset the tps 190/55 rear and i think thats about all ive done
if i hit the throttle nicely no dramas but when im with a select few mates 2x busas 1xzx10 and a new bmw well lets say every set of llights turns into a drag strip so no being nice lol......

suspensions been resetup and was told i still got plenty of ks before they need to be overhauled as the springs front and rear are still very strong

but yeah rear even running a passenger barely sags at all ... maybe too stiff as it only drops about 2 cms when i first sit on it?
