Re: Scared of Rain?
hahaahahaahah what a pack of pussies....
although, I do remember doing something similiar once......
years ago on a ride to northern NSW to catch up with some Z Owners - about 5 of us were heading south after the weekend. It had been raining a bit, no real issue - but at some point, it started raining so heavily, that the outside plugs on all the old Zeds started to short out and we all ended up running on only 2 cylinders !!!
It was incredibly heavy rain, like riding through a pool really......so we all stopped under a bridge and waited for it to pass ( and for our bikes to dry out a bit).......I have never before or since, ridden in such a downpour.

Re: Scared of Rain?
If you look closely at the pic, it's teaming down in bucket loads. I am with Gos, there has been a few times over the years where I have had to pull up. Not because I was getting wet though, because you couldn't see and that there were rivers of water flooding across the road making it near impossible to do more than about 20kph before the front started aquaplaning.
I even remember not that long ago, pulling up under a freeway overpasss on the Hume because there was so much water you couldn't see. the cars had pulled over well before I did though, so some pride remained intact.......

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

Re: Scared of Rain?
I went to do that in peak halfhour on the Bruce Hwy near Caboolture, it dumped buckets and couldn't see 10 meters in front, traffic slowed down to 20kmph, it was not safe under the bridges or on the left side of the road as every car was diving off in panic the downpour was that bad.Strika wrote:If you look closely at the pic, it's teaming down in bucket loads. I stayed in the now empty far right hand lane until the next turnoff, it was scary shit, not the rain but the cars running into each other all around me, believe me it is freaky hearing the bingles happening but not being able to see them and having no choice but to keep on going relying on a white line (and moving further right)

I think I was caught up in that also on the Hume, possibly last year I think it was. It was definitely difficult driving in that, let along riding on the bike

Re: Scared of Rain?
Caught once or twice in "heavy" rain, certainly need your wits about you for sure, but those times were nothing in comparison to getting caught at night in Hail between Corryong and Tallangatta
Easily THE worst ride of my life.

It all comes down to how you ride it.....

Re: Scared of Rain?
I remember pulling over in a down pour on the way out of cooma that came from behind us and was ferocious....funny the people in the car that pulled over as well were having a real laugh at us trying to get our wet weather gear on.
