Loud Pipes Save Lives.
I'd never go back to a stock exhaust, far too quiet. But re: angled to close to pillion area, you could go custom and do a stubby shorty out the bottom/side of the fairing, or any other number of creative ways.

I don’t care how liberated this world becomes – a man will always be judged by the amount of alcohol he can consume – and a woman will be impressed, whether she likes it or not.

Re: SERIOUS QUESTION.... 12R
Go the full system!!!
Re full system they are pretty thin on the ground now, almost everybody discontinued the 12R. Brocks/hindle, Tsukigi still make to order. Brocks/Hindle is sub $1000 for most configs and with the Aussie the way it is atm, you're saving GST and import duty.
Of course if you really want a nice cheap full system you can always go a Muzzy - barely more than most slip-ons for the cheapest system. Muzzy have a reputation for being a little louder than some of the popular manufacturers, and they have that well documented flatspot < 3k, but their top end HP is up there with the best of em.
The stock header tubes were made narrow on purpose to try to neuter the bike. The stocker pulls like crap anywhere in the upper 3rd of the RPM range as a result. Do your bike a favour and let her breath properly! She'll thank you for it
