first real ride today

Post by netbikes »

My 89 H1 is finally registered and I finally had the chance for a decent ride today, it was all I expected and more. I rode from Brisbane burbs to Mt.Tambo, down the other side torward Beaudesert to turn off through Logan Village etc.
The motor ran beautiful with good power everywhere in every gear, a mate came along on his 1000 Race Kat replica and I blew him off with ease, not that the ride was about that. Temperature guage hovers around the half mark mostly, only when in traffic for a while it goes to the about 3/4 but not over, hot here is bris today too. It does not have the sewing machine smooth power of the 91 gixer I had a couple of years back but i like it better, ride position is better than the gixer too. The motor under noise sounds like a big twin I reckon.
Handleing was really good, of course, as Kawasaki said at the time, the H1 was a road bike built to be raced. It doesn't like bumpy surfaces and it feels heavy through slow corners but after that is is glued to the road rock solid.

The gear change on my bike is a bit clunky but I also remember I noted same when I test rode one new out of the shop, also in my case the motor tends to run on due to not having the push cable fitted and I defiantly reckon that is contributing
to the clunky feel gear change. I'll get a cable soon.

Overall , awesome ride, they are great value right now to , you can pick up a reasonable condition one for around $3000.

BTW I am now on Facebook,

Great report. It must be terrific to enjoy the results of that hard work! Well done.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left. Phil

I think the best part was I had no issues, when I got home I just cleaned off the insects from the front and parked it up.
