Wow, that is a lot of stuff shoe horned in there. I have to admit that curiosity has gotten the better of me with all the different doodads on there too. I didn't even know what the bright orange buttons were, or if they were from the base model, until i looked them up a minute ago.

i test rode a 1400 gtr a while ago , excellent bike imo , not sure i would want to ride one around town all day as a policeman, they would be better of getting a zx-14 imo with a ventura rack, cheaper upfront costs , better resale value and easier to catch the crooks on a pursuit.

The GTR is the preferred option for the Police, however at the time (last year I believe) Kawasaki don''t or didn't have a Police Pack available, but after a few enquiries from various Police Services they now do and NSW Police are trialling a Police Pack GTR now, it was at ACT Police for a few months and as I've said before the cops like the Kawasaki better than the bikes that they have now BMW's (servicing/parts for the Beemers was getting out of hand) and FJR's

I saw two coppers on the M2 last week on fully kitted bikes, One on a FJR and the other on a Harley  I don't know how the Harley corners as the saddle bags were almost dragging on the ground slabbing it on the freeway

ACT coppers will be belting around on GTR1400's pretty soon.

The FJ's are just shithouse through the corners.....

Yes they are a total crock. I was talking to one of my mates who may or may not ride a current FJ1200 with bells & whistles ;) , and he flatly refuses to ride the hogs. We had a laugh about how good the local scratchers would have it, if they introduced hogs as the pursuit bikes here !!! Chaos out on the Cotter Loop !!  "....get off the roads, your in peril...." is how it was described. Needless to say, and as you already know - the hogs are only used for ceremonial and escort duty. For that - they are very good.

And they don't even like to ride them for that, they take up the rear for ceremonial/escort stuff, they're too heavy, no ground clearance, and too slow

-- Kawasaki 1400GTR being evaluated by AFP and NSW Police

Various Australian Police forces including the Australian Federal Police and the NSW Police Force are currently evaluating the Kawasaki 1400GTR motorcycle for their daily motorcycle related law enforcement duties.

Introduced to the world for the 2008 model year, the Kawasaki 1400GTR quickly endeared itself to the motorcycle touring population winning numerous awards in recent years including MOTY accolades in USA publications Motorcyclist, Cycleworld and Rider magazines.

Owing to its generous storage space, tight turning circle, light steering at slow speeds and a class leading shaft driven 1352cm3 in-line 4cyclinder engine with variable valve timing, Kawasaki claim the 1400GTR is a perfect platform for Police motorcycle requirements. It is currently in active use by numerous Police forces around the world including Europe and the USA where a dedicated police force model is available for special order through Kawasaki dealerships.

Kawasaki is pleased that Australian Police forces are following suit by evaluating the 1400GTR for active use with high level testing already being undertaken by the AFP and the NSW Police force.
