front M5 cold tyre PSI for REX 12?

Hope the above isn't true. Got two sets of PR3s sitting in shed waiting to go on. One for ZRX and one for mates XJR13. Scary....

I have not ridden on the 3's yet, however, a good mate of mine who has several bikes, can steer a bit good and knows what he is talking about has a set on his KTM SMT990. From Warburton to about 4 klms into the reefton spur, the road was dry and he had no grip issues. I was sitting behind him with a smile on my face if that gives you an indication of corner speed . Then when it turned wet, his tyres were staying put long after my pures were getting loose. I stuck with him all the way up and even managed to show him a wheel here and there, but I couldn't have passed him. His bike never moved an inch the entire ride. So they grip fine. You may even get a little better wear as a bonus!

Mmmmm....not sure how accurate that is. My understanding is that the PR3's are a harder compound than the PR2's. So, one would assume, also more suitable for a hotter climate. Maybe your rep is trying to push some older stock??

Just making you aware of this.
Looks to me though, that it may be the softer part of the tyre, not the harder (narrower than PR2) centre.
Local Rep also says that PR2s are not out of production.

Local Michelin Rep in WA recommends sticking with the PR2s in hotter countries such as ours (except of course Tasmania). PR3s are ok in cooler climes, such as Europe.

I call BS on the FZ6 story. If you read the rest of the thread there's some reasonable inconsistencies in the guys story. He later trowels the bike into the back of a car at 35 mph and tries to blame a "blown" front tyre, the matching PR3 to the back that had the problem.

It may be legit but it sounds a bit odd I reckon.

M PR3 for me

I just opted for M5's on the ZRX this time and went for my first ride on them this morning. I ran 35/38 cold pressures, as the temperature was cool when we started out but I knew the day and the road would warm up considerably by the time we got home.

First impressions are very pleasing. As my confidence in them increased, I pushed things harder and they didn't budge, even when I got a bit ham fisted with the throttle. Rather than spinning up the rear, it just squatted more and accelerated hard out of corners leaving me with a big stupid grin on my face. The front feels solid, tips in nicely and changes dirrection well. I think M5's are a great choice for big heavy bikes.
