Yep, the axle sits in a cam that is used to tension the chain. Stock, the axle is at the top of the cam. As said above, you simply rotate it so the axle is now at the bottom, as pictured.

it doesn't look like a big change, but the handling difference is incredible.

Great stuff! The difference is incredible, hey?

Just be aware of the increased seat height. Also, it's now a loooong way down to the side stand, so try to park with the stand "uphill". Some blokes attach a small block to the bottom of the stand.

Happy riding!

oohhhh words just can't explain how different the bike feels, felt increased seat height straight away and i did it just before i set out for the hills thinking that it would only really be felt in that sort of riding but i could feel the difference straight away and its all positive, like i said it just feels like a different bike.

thanks for the tip about the side stand, i didn't even think of that but know you mentioned it, it does lean over on it abit more lol.

thanks

so finally my k&n filter arrived, the bike now growls instead of whistles an lifts the front wheel easy under its own power, thats if the wheel doesn't spin lol good upgrade and cost $105, only problem is it took a while (over 4 weeks) to get here as the bike shop said k&n couldn't find a part number for the c models

Setup my shifter to GP/revese pattern, had to modify the shifter boss so it clears the frame. Regular pattern for me results in me inadvertently shifting the wrong way occasionally.

My next mod is brakes. It's an area that definitely needs improvement, and certainly will do this before doing any power upgrades.

I also don't like the front end of my bike, mine came with a re-valved front end and I find it too hard.

ok so when i got my bike it had a michelin pilot road 2 front tyre, never gave me any grief but it did take abit to heat up, after reading up on tyres i opted for the dunlop sportmax q2, its a sports tyre so milage won't be great but it is super grippy.

the main reason i opted for this tyre is becuase it is a much pointier tyre, which results in quiker stearing an much more nimble, this is felt instantly, you can get more lean angle more easily and no longer feel as if it wants to run wide when lent over at high speed, also turns in alot sharper.
heats up super quik aswell, so it has been a very welcome change and no longer feels like im wrestling a goldwing around the twistys.

yeh you are write mate pirelli/dunlop are a V shaped tyre where michalin and others are a U shape design, the best for a ZZR is a V shaped 65 front as from what ive been told you carn't drop the front forks.

Makes the bike tip into corners sooooooooooo much better. A whole new bike!

Warning: This also lifts the seat (about 20mm).

My bike also has braided front brake lines and a White Power nitrogen-charged, dial-adjustable rear shock.

Oh, it's also for sale. ;)
Yours has all the required mods then. Plus some tapered roller bearings. Eccentrics, shock, lines and an airfilter and if fussy, a slight needle and jet mod to remove the ADR flatspot is all they need. Anything else is just showing off.... :)

BTW, with a longer shock and the eccentrics flipped, they are actually a handy tool. I can recall being humbled by one along the Ocean road many years ago. The guy had it set up really well. It had immense ground clearance and held a really tight line at full lean. I know as I was ZXR750L2 mounted and try as I might, couldn;t gain any ground on it. I was racing at the time, so thought myself pretty sharp at the time, but in reality, got smoked! :)

im looking at getting some decent pipes, but in the short term i was wondering if anyone had cut the original cans open and removed the packing to give it abit of noise??? if so some info would be great as im sick of such a quiet bike and new pipes are a couple months off.
